Showing your bad moments in front of floormates

Yesterday I was studying with one of my buddies for an upcoming Chemistry test in our hall’s floor lounge, and I guess I was just frustrated at how slow I was making progress in understanding a tricky chapter that in frustration, I ended up flipping over one of my folders and notebooks and send my small pile of chemistry papers flying to the floor. My buddy, of course, didn’t think much of it and just told me to calm down, since she knows I do angry-like things when stressed, so I just sat down and did what she said. But then as I look out the door, I see a guy who lives two floors down from my room staring at me for a nanosecond, and then he scrams the heck out of there, as if he thinks I’m about to kill him.

So how do you exactly deal with showing your bad moments in front of your floormates? I’ve talked to the guy a few times (nowhere near friend status, but still), and I don’t want him to think of me as kind of a psycho. I know I should be okay with being who I am, but sometimes I do get self-conscious and don’t realize others that aren’t my friends also see my not-as-pleasant side to myself.

Don’t have bad moments.

If I do something that freaks people out, I apologize. But otherwise I just try and forget about it. That’s hard for me to do, because I’m pretty self-conscious too, but I try.

One time I got wasted, started arguing with my roommates, got ****ed for no reason and went back inside. Slammed the door and punched a small dent in the wall.

We all laughed about it the next morning.

I don’t think I do anything that really freaks anyone out…but these days my roommates know me very well and it would be hard to honestly freak them out. 90% of the time, if I’m hanging out with someone, it’s someone who knows me very well through good times and bad.

However, I think we all are usually pretty unfazed by each other…we spend a decent amount of time intoxicated on various things around each other, so really any weird behavior is pretty much just laughed at or shrugged off.

I would just apologize and laugh it off- maybe say something like “chemistry brings out the worst in me” (only less stupid sounding haha).

Everybody has moments where they act less than appropriate in front of somebody. If they can’t deal with an occasional lack of composure, then somethings off.
