shp (scholar honor program) or others?

Hi,

I was recently informed by a friend that he received a letter from the school about a SHP opportunity. He wonder if I got one too but I didn’t and I worry it may be because of my low GPA (2.6). I did some research and i found out i need a 3.0 to be qualified. Is this true? I am currently retaking a course I got a D in this summer and if i were to finish the class with a A grade, my D grade will be replaced with an A and the new cumulative GPA will be a 3.07. I really want to be apart of this program because i want to meet new people, be apart of a trip, explore and learn new things. My question is… Will the program accept me after i meet the Gpa requirement and if so, how can i be notified this year? If i cant get in this year, will i get it next year if i maintain above a 3.0 after sophmore year? If my opportunity is totally washed away, where can i find other opportunities similar to this? Honestly, throughout my high school year I never seem to be apart of something big like my brothers and now that i am more motivated and determine than i ever was about my education and i want this so bad.

ANY advice, answers, experiences will be GREATLY appreciated.

thank you CC communities!

no one can answer this? wow…

I think people just don’t know what you’re talking about…you didn’t say what school you’re referring to!

Like Rebeccar said, I think it would be easier it you stated which school you wanted to go to. I know that in the college I want to go to you need an unweighted GPA of 3.75 along with high ACT/SAT scores. You can try contacting the people managing the honors program but it’s probably very likely they’ll tell you to re-apply again next year.
