Sibling going to law school in the fall. Should I report this?

My sister is going to a law school in the fall. I will be a freshman. I am already getting a good financial aid package from my college. Will this increase financial aid enough to go through the process of appealing my current financial aid offer?

Also, I am unsure if she could be counted in my financial aid because she is not receiving aid from our parent. What should I do?

Thanks

you cant count her

Your sister is an independent student. While she may be counted as a person in the household depending on the amount of support she receives from your parents, she may not necessarily be considered an additional person in college.

However you stated

Since your parents are not paying to put your sister through law school, providing more than half of her support (this would be the overall cost of attendance; tuition, fees, housing, etc), she is not included and would not be considered an additional person in college.
