<p>I wrote an essay on a rapper having a significant influence on me and I don’t know if a college admissions officer will resent me for making a rap reference. I’m a smart kid so I’m no hoodlum.</p>
<p>What rapper is it? If you make serious connections, and make it realistic I think it can be fine, but I would be weary of readers to not take it seriously.</p>
<p>I actually wrote my common app about a rock star, but like previous poster said, my connections were serious and I really gave a good explanation.</p>
