Sikh temple shooting

The actual laws in question may be more reasonable than what people think they mean (e.g. not allowing someone who started a fight to claim that the homicide was justifiable). But if people (ordinary people in situations where the application of the law may come into question, police, prosecutors, judges, jurors) happen to think the law says something other than what it actually says, then the result of the law may not be what the law actually says (although it is conceivable that that result is what the proponents of the law intended).

And the burning of a mosque in Joplin, Missouri:

[Joplin mosque razed in fire; 2nd blaze this summer - Yahoo! News](http://news.yahoo.com/joplin-mosque-razed-fire-2nd-blaze-summer-160342127.html)

This is actually the second burning. There is video of the first fire attack, complete with video of the attacker.

Looking at aspects other than guns: There a government report a few years ago on domestic terrorism that said we should pay attention to far right extremist groups, particularly former military. I remember there were some groups who were upset about the report for various reasons. This guy killed more people, but this is, what, the 3rd or 4th case of such an attack.

The Feds don’t collect statistics on hate crimes against Sikhs.

And if you read up on the law, and on cases you hear a lot of our hands are tied. It’s what the law says, etc. Read the Tampa bay article and study they did. With a third of the cases with the defendant starting the confrontation, and shooting unarmed people seems it more than just a misinerpretsitn of the law.

Here is what Florida’s “stand your ground” law actually says:

It appears that most people (apparently including police, prosecutors, etc.) fail to notice this part of it:
