Has anyone organized a silent auction? Where do you get the auction items? Who usually comes to these auctions? Where to start?

If this silent auction is for a charity, the people you invite usually bring an item to donate and then they auction for some other things. As for who comes, it depends on what the auction is for and what’s for sale. Where to start?
