Greetings! I know its a bit early, but I’m a prospective SCEA 2015 applicant wondering how Yale liked applicants who were singers. In their tour there seemed to be a heavy emphasis on a cappella groups and I’m curious to see if making the All State chorus would help my chances.

While the singing/choral culture at yale is very strong (and therefore should be very attractive to you), Yale doesn’t convey any special advantage to applicants unless they really already are superstars (contract w/record label, international music award winners, etc.).

Also, on MY state…I hate to say it but “All State Choir” is a pretty big joke. Our very best singers are not involved at all. But that may be something VERY different in your state.

Nice information. Btw, R124687, what state do you live in? In massachusetts, my state, we seem to do alright. We perform at symphony hall, one of the world’s leading classical concert venues.
