For college dorms, is assignment random? If you send in a request to have a single dorm, will it be fulfilled?</p>

a lot of schools will do it based on the order they receive your request, so you’ll have to hurry and get it in as soon as possible.</p>
<p>They try to give you what you ask for, but singles go fast. Veganactress is right, they usually fill them in the order they recieve the housing form.</p>
<p>A lot of times most of the singles are taken by the upperclassmen (who get first pick of rooms). Some colleges hold some singles for freshmen who have specific medical needs.</p>
<p>Why would you want a single? Go meet some people.</p>

<p>it also depends on whether freshmen are housed together or not. if it’s mixed upperclassmen are much more likely to get the singles, but if freshmen are separate you have a much better chance.</p>
