Single sex study lounge on campus OK or not OK?

I think many of us would agree with you, mom3. But,

Risa Lieberwitz, a professor of labor and employment law at Cornell University who’s studied Title IX, said she understands the concerns female students have voiced over the elimination of the women’s lounge.

However, such arguments do not meet the legal threshold to support single-sex facilities.

And the University apparently concurs:

The decision was made “a couple of months ago,” Cody said, as part of an effort to ensure that university facilities and programs are in compliance with Title IX, the federal civil rights law that bans sex discrimination in programs that receive federal funding.

The decision was not made because of the professor’s complaint, he said, adding, “We still have not seen or been served with any complaint filed by anyone.”

In past years, the university has received complaints about the lounge from male students, and a transgender student raised concerns last year, Cody said.

There is no Title IX violation.

Perhaps not, but the University used T9 as one of its reasons for changing policy (see above).
