Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

Yikes  D who will be a univ junior this fall attended an older HS friend’s wedding and CAUGHT the bouquet! She and BF were both there and have almost three years together, long distance.

SBmom-ROFLOL!!!

It is impressive Alu…and tragic.

My daughter and her Romeo of 3 1/2 years broke up in December (mutual decision). They now talk to each other more frequently than before they broke up; according to my daughter, “we’ve always been better at being friends.” Somehow the total lack of drama doesn’t surprise me; my daughter is Ms. Pragmatic at heart.

Oh, and can someone explain to me how stuff that fit easily into my compact car in September became piles and piles of boxes that required packing the car to the ceiling in June? I don’t know whether my daughter needs packing lessons or if her stuff engaged in some illicit breeding, but I was terrified that I would have to hit the brakes suddenly for the drive home…headlines like “Driver Buried in Freak Accident” seemed like a very real possibility. My dining room is now a storage room; I really hope it looks like a dining room again before she leaves for her summer job in two weeks.

Page 2 rescue…Ok, some mom-gushing…it’s official, guidance counselor called and left a message, “let me be the first to say Congratulations”…D is the class val! School district (and her AP English Lit class) kept it interesting, and determines it on final sr. year weighted GPA, calculated on last day of school. Whew. Now they are at grad practice, tomorrow I’m off to fly across the country to fetch one of the grandmas for Monday’s ceremony. Just get me through the next few days, please.

(((((({{{{{BIG HUGS}}}}}))))))) and congrats to you, astrophysicsmom, and your D! What wonderful news!

::confetti::

great job, astrophysicsD!!

Congrats astrophysics daughter! I think it’s fun too wait to last moment. Our val was determined way back in October which seems silly to me.

BTW Mathson was voted “Mostly likely to be a rocket scientist”. I was impressed enough kids knew who he was to vote for him. :)

Woo hoo for the SA val!

Very funny mezzomom. A pragmatic girl! My recipe for a wonderful DIL. What’s a little self-propogating stuff.

Mathson meets astrophysics girl and they both fly away…

Congrats to all…

BIG BIG CONGRATS to astrophysics D!!! and to Whole astro family:D

Thanks. I’m still gushing. (good to do it in cyberspace so I can avoid being too obnoxious about it IRL). Thanks for letting me do my mom-cheerleader thing! OK–now back to the quiet reserved QUIETLY proud mom.

Mathmom grumbling here. I do too know the difference between to and too. How did I manage to mangle them twice? Too times? Stone sober too I swear!

to plus too, a problem for mathmom? ;)

btw SBMom…did you happen to catch the Naked Wild On segment on Burning Man? cough

No I did not, was I in it? ;)

What goes on at Burning Man stays at Burning Man until of course it hits national TV.

Hehe.

BTW, I am joining the proud mom club. Aluson won a book award at the school honors convocation. The Brown book award for writing. My hitherto mute son. The one who also surprisingly the other day piped up and told me that World Civilization and Global Studies were different in that one had a more limited scope and was therefore “more linear”.

Dear God. Boys really do mutate, don’t they. How does “Huh” turn into “More linear…”? And how does a kid who used to be known for math suddenly become highly verbal? I am telling you, from the time he was a baby until about 10 he was pretty verbal. Of course, as a baby and toddler he spoke a language only I could understand. Imagine that “Bapu see ninnypoohbeah diapuh” meant “<<aluson’s first=”" name=“”>> wants to see the Winnie the Pooh Bear diaper:). Then he ceased to speak any more than was absolutely necessary. But now, god knows why, words have found their way back into his mouth.</aluson’s>

I think cheers has the insight. It’s testosterone…Anyway, thanks for the free proud mama moments - drinks are on me.

Congrats to Aluson!

Ain’t it grand when they grow up into people more capable than we ever would have thought they would be? There are times when we would be happy if they would just mature enough to get a job and stay out of jail, and then there are times when we are sure we have produced the next Nobel prize winner. No wonder we have gray hairs!

I’ll have whatever you’re having. On second thought, I’ll make a nice cool pitcher of sangria. Anyone?

Bapu speaks!!

This is SO GREAT. Kvell and kvell. I’ll take a double anything because I intend to fritter away the afternoon READING. Just because it is a BEAUTIFUL day.

XO

Aha! Sangria in SBMom’s backyard! Smell of orange blossoms and the faint tang of ocean.

I will bring my book. I have to say, I just read L’American. I have gotten quite crabby about novels in my middle age but this was fabulous. Anyway, maybe I will just bring my copy of US Magazine. And the sangria…

Thanks for the kvelling and congrats. Here’s back at ya.
