Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 1)

CountingDown: You have a choice between wearing the SA chicken bucket or the white 1960’s motorcycle helmet (it will match your hair after your first driving lesson). :stuck_out_tongue:

Over30: He neglected to mention swinging through the jungle on vines and afternoon tea with Cheetah. I’ll bet Tarzan gave his parents ulcers. Oh, wait…they conveniently died before he reached adolescence. Love the part about the snakes.

Astro: This girl is having too much fun! :)

Georgiamom: Waaaahhh! I want to hang with a Russian chef who likes to share recipes, drink wine, and cook for me. His name would be Nikolai…

These are fantastic summer adventures! Sure beats teaching swimming lessons and fishing poop-a-loops out of the kiddie pool. (<–My summer job for 5 summers!) :D

But Slugg, my D is having fun as a lifeguard at the watrerslides, she likes the cloudy days, says the sunny days at the kiddie pool = “Where’s Waldo” and Waldo = any drowning child!

wow – I feel like a piker here. Just back from 2 weeks away, coinciding with D’s day off from summer camp – she beat us home by a few hours, then asked if she could have a “few” friends by. $90 in pizza later – there are 15 kids on my patio and I’m sorting through mounds of junk mail. Luckily, there was a Pinot Grigio in the fridge.

Cheers-You made my day! I love that line! It is a good thing we happen to have a lot of bathroom in this house. We put them to good use those days. The first thing everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) asked (after working 9 weeks at a summer camp)- “can I take a real shower please?” Good thing none of the counselors were French, eh? Second request? “Can I do laundry?” The washer and dryer ran nonstop for days.

TFSFH is now home in bed, having landed in the ER after a motorcycle accident today. He’ll be fine, but I have very little hair left tonight that isn’t white.

In what can only be considered a mixed blessing, he may have totaled the motorcycle, the love of his life and the bane of mine. He does not have sufficient savings to replace it. We’ll look at it more closely in the light of day tomorrow, but it’s not looking good.

Heavy booze, please.

mootmom – just checking in after a night out and read this. How awful! I am so glad your S is okay. Any broken bones? What a scare that must have been.

Mootmom—oh no! We’ll all be thinking good thoughts for you and son. I lived through the phone call of “your husband has been in a motorcycle accident” a couple of years ago and know the incredible mix of emotions you have had to deal with. I’m so glad to hear that he was home after the accident—I hope the physical and emotional pain subsides for you soon.

OMG Mootie! Is he, and are you, ok???
So sorry to hear of his accident. Is he home, or did they keep him in the hospital? Anyone else injured?
Hope his injuries are minor and that you are survivng all this ok. I am not a big fan of motorcycles, so that is not a loss in my book. Hang in there. I am pouring you a mimosa!

moot- Hope S has quick recovery, maybe this will end motorcycle adventures??

Okay this requires vodka with a twist!!

Motorcycle + accident in same sentence = Not A Good Thing.

Glad he is home and safe and sound.

RIP motorcycle in hopeful voice.

Eeek. Moot. This is what back in the day of little kids we called “natural consequences”. I can still remember looking at one of my children and thinking, do I tell them not to do what they are doing or would I rather risk the natural consequence of a possible broken arm than start the litany of no no no no no.

I am SO glad he will be OK.

Group slugghugg!!

The marmots are on the way with Bandaids and booze. We’re all thinking of the Mootie family. ;)

So sorry to hear about the accident and hoping for a quick recovery.

Oh, mootmom! That must have terrifying, getting that phone call. I’m glad he wasn’t injured to the point where they kept him in the hospital – hope all heals up quickly.

Thanks for the cyberhugs and sympathy, everyone. He’s home, banged up but mobile, and the motorcycle is banged up quite a bit worse than he is. Single-bike accident. He got a LOT of help from the group he was riding with: they were totally awesome, stayed with him the whole time, someone even rode home and drove back with a trailer onto which he loaded TFSFH’s bike and drove it back to our house while we were at the hospital. TFSFH had never met these folks before yesterday during the annual area “newbie group ride”. His accident was after the all-day group ride (many hours longer than he’d ever ridden before) as he was on his way home. A car stopped short in front of him, and he did an end-over-end flip with the bike landing on top of him, avoiding the stopped car and other obstacles. The funny thing was, I’d started getting antsy about him not being home, at almost exactly the time the accident occurred (I learned in retrospect). Mom Radar. And yes, it was pretty terrifying to get the call, but in a way I seemed to be expecting it, it was weird… By the time the call came in, I just … “knew”. So it was like I was just taking down the details I needed to know, so I could get where I needed to be promptly.

I hope to find the folks who stayed with him and especially the guy who delivered his bike last night, and offer to thank them in some appropriate way. TFSFH had a waffle and a Vault this morning, so I think he’s doing okay. Don’t try this at home, folks.

Mootmom, so sorry to hear of Mootson’s motorcycle accident! That will age ya. I’m glad he is not too beat up. I hope his injuries are more on the surface. Sorry about the bike for his sake but surely not for yours, LOL. I recall when he got the bike and your nervousness (understandably) at the time. We moms KNOW. I also can imagine that you had a bad feeling in your gut because he hadn’t arrived home yet and so the call was along the line of your fears that were already taking place. Still, such calls are horrible (I certainly know!) and I am sad to think you had to endure such an experience. I’m glad things are not as bad as they could be but it is really too bad he had to go through this and also you too on your end of things. I hope he is healing. I’m sure he is very bummed about the bike.
(drink up) :)

You sound awfully calm given the description of the accident. I’m glad he’s not too seriously hurt. You certainly deserve kudos for maintaining your poise and your perspective – and deserve two of whatever daily special the bartender is serving tonight!

“Had a waffle and a Vault” Sounds like sitting up and taking nourishment to me! Glad he’s up and about, but I’ll bet he’s sore all over.

Total kudos to the group that helped him out. Sounds like he got overtired and either was following too close, or his reflexes were slowed and he didn’t react to the car in front in time. Lessons learned, we can only hope.

Cyber squeezes to mootie

Hey mootie-
I am still pondering over that choice of breakfast… a waffle and a Vault. Are you sure he didn’t have a head injury? :D
