I think it must have a lot of pi$$ and vinegar :)

We need jmmom. She’s the mixologist among us.

How about instead of p&v we have some Angostura bitters;)?

I’D settle for ingredients that LOOK like pi$$ and vinegar. I’m curious as to what’s in the ingredients of the WT F-word has in drinkt?!!

OK, so the new Bon Appetit magazine arrived and there is an ad for Ghirardelli Chocolate, describing three new premium dark chocolate bars they are introducing. “Midnight Reverie-86% Cacao-the ultimate in chocolate intensity, luxuriously deep and velvety with the full-bodied taste of cherries, dried plum…” They suggest pairing it with and aged rum or a ruby Port. Then there’s “Twilight Delight-72% cacao-highly aromatic, with mocha, blackberry and chocolate notes throughout…” Suggested pairing is with a dry red wine. Finally, they offer “Evening Dream-60% cacao-this exquisite and creamy dark chocolate is perfectly highlighted by the sweet floral notes of prized Madagascan vanilla…” Suggested pairing is a glass of late-harvest Riesling.
And I’m reading all this and thinking, “I’d pair the Midnight Reverie with the Twilight Delight!” Does that mean I have to vacate SA? ;)

Oh goodness no.

We are virtual. If you want chocolate on tap, shaken not stirred, in a glass with an umbrella, it’s yours…

I tend to pair whatever is in my cupboard with whatever is in my refrigerator.

Chocolate is God’s way of getting us to drink milk. I’d be doing a menage-a-trois with all three of them, with a hefty glass of milk nearby!!!

Ditto, astrophysicsmom!

And I have always heard that wine is a no-no with chocolate–except for a Sauternes or other sweet dessert wine. But a dry red? Good way to ruin chocolate, IMO.

I would heighten the chocolate effect with something like Godiva chocolate liquor, Kahlua, or a raspberry cordial. Mmmmm.

Have you noticed all the women’s magazines have photos & recipes for the richest, most luxurious desserts, as well as sure-fire diet plans & exercise tips? Two perennial themes at odds with each other. :D

(Not talking about mags like Bon appetit, dedicated to one thing only…great food!)

Since we’re talking about chocolate, I was thrilled to find the “Lindt Excellence Chili” bar at Target! Chocolate and chili are a fabulous combination. When we lived in Zurich in 2006, there were billboards all over town advertising it. We brought about 10 bars back to the US with us, went through them quickly, and until last week I couldn’t find them anywhere. I just bought another 10 bars yesterday.

I need to take a seat at the bar and get myself a nice strong drink! What a day! I lost someone I knew very well to of all things, the Epstein Barr Virus. She just died. Can you believe it? 40 years old! She was a wife, a mother to two boys, and a daughter. I am absolutely heart sick over this. Sorry to ruin the chocolate mood, but I am just crushed. I feel so sick for her family.

Northeastmom, how tragic! I am so sorry for your loss and for the family of this young woman…

churchmusicmom, thanks. This just really stinks.

Northeastmom, I am so sorry about your loss - and what a tragedy for the family. I know several people suffering with the Epstein-Barr virus - but I didn’t realize it could be fatal. Very scary.

Aw. Any song that she liked? We can put it on the old jukebox for her. Sorry.

such a lot of sad news, lately… but isn’t it SA? Pour me a third (yes, I’ve had two) because I’m headed off to school for parents night to hear… for the umpteenth time… “how to help your upper schooler navigate the sexual scene.” How many ways can they say, “Throw up your hands!”

Awww, Alumother, I don’t even know what type of music she liked. Sweet sentiment.

Well, we will put on Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and all weep with you.

It is great having online friends! Thanks. I just cannot believe what has happened. I just can’t believe this.

By odd coincidence, a friend just pointed me today at an essay (["It Doesn’t Matter Which You Heard: the Curious Cultural Journey of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”](<a href=“Clap Clap”>www.clapclap.org/2007/04/hallelujah.html)), where you can read about the long, strange trip from Leonard Cohen’s original to what people remember today.

My thoughts tonight to everyone who has lost someone.

Yes, northeastmom. Online friends can do a pretty good job of sitting quietly by your side. And one of us will always be here.
