Head Cheese.

Ahhh, all the wonderful delicacies! This evening, the Alley is serving Head Cheese accented by garlic butter-smothered snails heavily sprinkled with sea salt. The dish pairs well with our signature drink, the Moxie ;)

That’s what I get for going to bed on time! missed the party & dancing on the bar. My heels would have been off by then anyway, and I’d have been dancing in my bare feet. But dancing!

And I am really really sorry I missed the snails and head cheese. (on the internet, no one can see that your fingers are crossed.)

m&s… did pass in the skies? I left SAN early Tuesday morning and am in Boston as we speak, headed to rainy/snowy/if-we’re-luck-40-degree weather. Yum.

But I didn’t notice any dads in red heels on any of the planes headed west as I looked out my window.

Raising my glass to extremely complex plane troubles for you this Thursday. I’m sure the planes will all be functioning quite nicely starting in, say, May.

Speaking of head cheese…

…I’ve signed up to get my head shaved for children with cancer for an event called St. Baldrick’s. Link: [St. Baldrick’s Foundation - Welcome](http://www.stbaldricks.org) The idea is to have people “donate on your head” and stand in unity with children with cancer who lose their hair not so voluntarily. The events take place on or near St. Patrick’s Day, hence the name.

Anyway, my 9 year-old daughter finds the prospect of a bald dad amusing and she has been telling people about it. Teachers, coaches and even her wee friends who probably repeat the news to their parents. The thing is…I’ve overheard her telling a teacher about this. And she omits the eleemosynary angle. It’s reduced to “My dad’s going to get his head shaved for St. Patrick’s Day.”

Now, be honest, and tell me what you would make of such a dad if you didn’t first hear the back story from me?

If I was the school teacher or martial arts instructor, I would hear what she was saying but my brain would be processing it in this form: “The only thing I can count on my loser dad for is to go off on a bender every year on St. Patrick’s Day and come home all blotto with a new tattoo or his head shaved.”

It’s not as if I’m not already somewhat worried about how my denuded scalp will look (thoughts of head cheese, knobby nodules, grotesque shaving mishaps and stress-induced excema haunt my dreams more and more as the big day approaches). But, right now, the prospect that the child welfare agency will arrest me for child neglect isn’t exactly warming me cockles. Or worse, what if the martial arts instructor decides I’m the one who needs a lesson when I show up bald at the dojo next week?

All things considered, head cheese actually appeals to me right now.

Guinness all around for D’yer Maker and a Crunchies for the kids!

“drinks are on me” (post #10260) -be careful what you say in the Alley. There’s a particularly rowdy bunch out back. You might need a hair dryer…;)

hmmm, momof3sons…I’m afraid that went wayyyyy over my head???
Regardless, with the heels on my shoes sharpened, I can take anyone on!

Stopping in to celebrate the IRS website that tracks refunds. All refunds are due for direct deposit tomorrow!!!

No word on the NYC school tax refund, but that was found money anyway.

yay for refunds, 2cakes!

Ours is supposedly due around 3/21. That’s pretty soon!

No more Head Cheese. All gone. Ate it all.

Its now, Blu Cheese. Wrap your heads around it.

Speaking of cheese… D’d cheeeeesy art project won a state award today! Yipee, first place! Time to celebrate! (God, I hope she does not decide that this is a sign that she needs to major in art of some sort or we’d be sending her monthly allowances for the rest of our lives!).

Mai Tai’s for everyone! (and put an extra umbrella in BunsenBurner’s glass in honor of bunsenD’s art award!!!) I’m putting off packing for vacation (D’s first-- and probably last – spring break with mom and dad!!!), and spending time here! Does it count that my list is all made and just ready to be checked off?

If you need me, I’ll be on the beach, under a palm tree, reading and sipping drinks with coconut and pineapple juice. Aloha!

Does the beach have wifi?

^^If that’s a drink, the beach has it. Really, is there a drink called “WiFi”?

PS Thanks for the extra umbrella!

A round for the house, and make it the good stuff.

I made a thread and I got a DD into college! whew and whew.

And bless all the sinners and marmots here. Really … THANK YOU!

Hurray for esobay & esobay’s DD!

Welcome esobay and double congrats!

Here in Sinners Alley, we’re never sure which is more momentous - when the DDs and DSs get into college or when we learn how to make threads (or smilies ).

Anyway, I will have a Mimosa considering the day and the hour. Kind of a shame to waste the good stuff when we are mixing it with juice. But as you are paying, I will have Piper’s and fresh-squeeze on the oj.

One son went back to college and the other one came home for spring break. The overlap was about 18 hours–not nearly long enough, but fun while it lasted!

The S who is home now is the one who is on a permanently upside-down schedule. He works on his laptop until 3 or 4 a.m, then sleeps til noon. I should be used to it by now, but it is still a little disconcerting to hear him going to bed at that hour.

Bumping up from page 3!
