Sinner's Alley Happy Hour (Part 2)

It didn’t feel right to put these in the photo thread, so I’ll pound these square pegs into the Sinner’s Alley Happy Hour round hole.

These are limited edition golf shoes Guinness is shipping to me.

You could go south about 20 minutes (opposite direction from Buffalo Trace, but not too far) and go to Shaker Village which is a national historical site on about 3000 acres. The Trustees Table dining room serves traditional KY food. Another option is to go to Midway which is about 30 minutes away (and then another 15 or so to get to Buffalo Trace). Midway has Holly Hill Inn or Heirloom. Definitely a taste of Kentucky and a beautiful part of the state.

edit: Holly Hill Inn serves lunch on Saturday and Sunday only. Heirloom has lunch everyday except Sunday and Monday.

Maine, the way life should be. Three miles from our house.

This is where the September CC meet up will be.

We were at a Peruvian restaurant last week and I had a Pisco Sour. Why I have I never had one before?

We had a happy hour for our southern territory team this afternoon. I wasn’t going to go, but it was so beautiful out that I packed up, went home, and got an Uber. It was over an hour away, but it was worth it. We had lunch on the water, then stopped by a floating tiki bar. Right next to the tiki bar, on dry land, was an upscale Mexican place. Below is a photo of the tiki bar, and a pic of my Fortaleza Reposado skinny margarita from the Mexican bar.

Well the tour has begun! Started with dinner with an old buddy of DH’s. We had a glass of Basil Hayden Smoked and he gave us a bottle of Blantons!

I have all the Blanton’s bottles to spell out Blanton’s. I simply can’t drink that much bourbon to send in the stoppers. I’ve been gifting them to friends with the stipulation that they give me back the stopper when the bottle is empty.

Thats a lot of bourbon! I only have my other bottle of Blanton’s gold that my kids got me, but the stopper jockey is plastic, not metal!

Ok: Summary of the Bourbon weekend:
Started with dinner at a casual restaurant (Palmer’s fresh grille) that was in a shopping complex with a bandstand and lake with live music on Friday night. And a huge bookstore that made DH very happy. His friend brought us a bottle of Blantons! Made me very happy :) we stayed at a charming hotel in Lexington (the Manchester) which is next to their music venue. Everclear was playing Friday night. We were able to get a seat at the hotel’s rooftop bar before the concert let out. So it was was hopping but not crazy packed up there. Beautiful night to just sit. Saturday was 4 roses, buffalo trace and makers mark. The bummer is we got off the Buffalo trace waitlist for a tour but it conflicted with what we had booked at 4 roses. We were underwhelmed by 4 roses and in retrospect could have skipped it. So Buffalo trace was a “tour of the gift shop” and a sample tasting of a whiskey/ginger beer drink. We did our obligatory shopping at Buffalo Trace and then had lunch at a charming old house converted to a restaurant called Limewater. Then drove to Makers Mark, which was a long drive. We had signed up for an evening chiluly thing which was really just that the distillery was open past their regular time, and it came with 2 tastes. We tagged along on a tour as we really wanted to hear at least one! The grounds and chiluly pieces are beautiful.

This morning we walked around the grounds of Castle & Key distillery, which was very pretty and historic and had a lovely walking trail. Didn’t taste their product. Just walked the grounds. Then went to woodford Reserve and had a tour/tasting.

I had completely forgotten until yesterday that I had a college friend and her husband (also a college friend) who have a horse farm in Versailles, which is where Woodford is. I reached out to her last night, but didn’t see her response until this morning and then she didn’t see mine, so we missed each other. That was a bummer.

We are now driving home. It was a fun weekend.

I needed shoes for the wedding and I wanted waterproof ON running shoes so we grabbed a nice lunch at an outdoor shopping complex before I spent a lot of money. :money_bag::money_bag:

The server said they had a brand new Autumn Margarita. I’m a risk taker by nature, so here it is.

Apple Cup!!! Which means the local eateries tune the TVs to the game, and everyone has a lot of fun! The local champagne bar was no exception! $7 Cougar mimosas were delicious. We had dinner reservations elsewhere so alas, had to skip the Cougar cheese grilled cheese sandwiches. :sandwich:
