Here’s my problem. So far this year I have slightly below (one A, two C’s, four B’s for first semester) the required unweighted B average for UCLA’s provisional acceptance. I’ve contacted them about this, and they’ve told me my acceptance will be reviewed but they will most likely not get back to me before the deadline to submit the SIR (may 1st). Therefore, I’m in a tight spot. I can either SIR at UCLA and hope they don’t revoke my admission, or I can SIR elsewhere and give up my hopes for my first choice school. What are the chances that UCLA will revoke admission?

Also, is it possible to submit two SIR’s? I know that this is generally frowned upon and that both colleges might revoke admissions due to this, but I think that in this case it would be acceptable because my decision is in limbo at UCLA. Is that ok, or do I need to make the hard choice and pick only one to SIR at?

Might want to keep in contact with them, but I would imagine that you won’t have your admission revoked (as you are barely under the requirements). However, other factors weigh in, what was your cumulative GPA up until your senior year? (in other words, how big was the dropoff?) They don’t want seniors with senioritis, it’s contagious :)

My unweighted GPA up until senior year was around 3.65, so it was a big of a drop. However, I did explain to them that the reasoning behind that was that I am taking 7 IB classes (similar to AP) this year, and with that kind of course load, it’s usually expected that grades will take a hit. It’s unfortunate that UC doesn’t respect that honors courses are harder than regular courses. I know they take that into account for admissions, but then for this B average requirement it’s ignored, which is a shame. Anyways, what does everyone think? My choices right now are UCLA which is in limbo, UCSD which I think has the same requirement, UC merced who will take me, and Cal Poly Pomona, which I don’t think has the B average requirement. I have to decide tomorrow where to SIR.

go with UCSD. UCSD is only little bit worst than LA. Hell, some people I know transfer from LA to SD because they hate LA. UCSD check weighted 3.0 gpa, so you are ok.
