Well…isn’t that true of most people who decide to get married? I hope that it isn’t usually an act of sacrifice for the greater good. I hope it’s usually because the fiancee is looking to satisfy her need for love, companionship, financial stability, and family support. I don’t think Robyn is pimping herself any more than other cute single moms who marry well-off men…it’s a tough life, and if you can attract a stable man to take part of the load off your shoulders, a lot of women will go for it.

At least Kody isn’t twice her age, 400 pounds, etc…we’ve all seen those couples where the financial exchange is obviously the center of the man’s appeal. I believe she’s genuinely attracted to him.

Bumping up this thread as the family is moving. Half listening to this episode, but my heart is breaking for the kids. Proud of the one mom who actually cares that the kids are tired, hungry, and need to be fed, while the other adults are more worried about the police catching them and where to get tires. I don’t know why Las Vegas was chosen as the new place, but it will definitely be interesting. Not surprising, though, as I watch Kody drive his Lexus, while he fathers kid after kid after kid, and marries wife after wife after wife. He’s not unlike the farm people of old who reproduced so as not to pay for hired hands. Thing is, he adds wife to contribute to his income stream as well. Not much better than a pimp, in my mind.

I never understood their fear of the police and an investigation. I figured if there was only one 'legal" wife and the other 3 were just add ons what is the illegal point of it. I never really thought of the welfare angle. I figured Kody claimed all the kids on his insurance. That is legal isnt it? I assume alot of “baby daddies” do that. It is a different sstory if the other women who are unemployed are getting government assistance. I know Janelle and Kody were the breadwinners of the family. Meri, Christine and Robyn do not work. With the move to Las Vegas, Kody says he gave up his career to do so. I assume Janelle did also. How are they making it? Profits from the show? I wondered when they wanted to buy the 4 LV homes how they were going to pull that off. They got turned down in the end. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out. How are they sure LV police wont come after them? Kody made a comment that LV was a place of religious freedom.???

^^^Yea, I never heard of Las Vegas being a place of religious freedom. I think he just wanted to go there so he could finally have a Vegas wedding. What a slimeball!

According to my Mormon go-to-person, the show has been carefully orchestrated to bring plural marriage out in the open and show how normal it is. The Jones family was selected and supported by their sect of Fundamentalist Mormons to go public gambling that this exposure will have the same result as coming out of the closet did for homosexuality and same-sex unions. They are hoping when states redefine and rewrite marriage laws - plural marriage will piggyback in, so to speak, with same-sex unions.
