Sister's GPA

My sister has a 2.90 right now & if she gets all A’s with all honors and AP’s what will her GPA be and will they be good enough for college admissions?

well is she a rising junior? if so and if she gets her grades up with all honors and AP’s it does not matter what GPA she has. The fact that she changed that much proves to colleges that she is capable of being in college and working etc…so it is possible that she could get into berkely/stanford…i know someone who did really badly first sem of junior year and then second sem he pulled his grades up drastically and got into berkely.

The thing is that she is about to start her senior year?

She’s a rising senior? Well she can’t really do anything about it until her first quarter grades. What’s the combination of honors/AP she’s taking?

i dont know exactly what her GPA would be, im guessing around a 3.5…but again i have no idea…but another good idea would be to do a PG year at boarding school or go to community college and do really well then transfer to a better college (UCLA, cal etc…) for 2 years

She is taking AP Latin, envir, human geography, photography, & calc ab. & English & US Gov Honors.

There’s AP photography?

Yeah, it’s called AP Studio Art 2D

it depends on the previous gpas. ex: 3.0 (frsh) 3.0 (soph) 4.0 (jr) 4.0 (sr)

3.5

Well if she had a cumulative 2.9 and she got a 4.0 first quarter, she’d had a 3.45. I’m doing unweighted. Weighted would be like 3.8 or something. It all depends which that 2.9 is.

It would be extremely difficult for someone with a 2.9 GPA to suddenly begin taking straight A’s, especially in more difficult classes (unless the GPA drop was due to certain circumstances, like an illness or something). OP, I would get your sister to look at colleges she has a better chance of getting into. It’s a bit late to worry about GPA now.

That’s what I was thinking, too, stressed, although, I didn’t say it.

Yeah, it seems sort of harsh :frowning: I figured that the OP should hear it though
