Unfortunately, workplace violence during termination isn’t unheard of. I had a client years ago who was so afraid, they called the cops when they terminated a particular individual.
I’m surprised this termination was taking place on a Friday. That wasn’t allowed at my company. We needed to term someone on a Friday once (very unique circumstances) and had to get permission from NY Legal to do it. When the supervisor walked the employee to his car, the supervisor was concerned because the car was a mess filled with beer cans and the supervisor was really worried about the guy. I think he checked on him a few times over the weekend.
