Size of Freshman Acting Class

Michigan is around 16.

anyone know Cornish’s freshmen class?

I want to say that I read somewhere that University of the Arts normally has an acting class size around 28-38 (the numbers 30 and 35 are both coming to my head, so I gave myself a little leeway). I could be wrong though…

Does anyone know about how many U of I auditions to yield their acceptances? Thanks!

Adding Adelphi - they told us they accept about 40 for a yield of about 25 kids in the class.

My unscientific guess is that a school that goes to Unifieds will audition at least 600-800 applicants. Some audition way over 1000. Schools like Adelphi that don’t, that rely on a few on-campus audition days, video submissions and private appointments, audition maybe a total of 300-400 (Adelphi mentioned that kind of number when we asked last year).

To kids who got any acceptances: be proud of yourself! This was an accomplishment. And don’t look down on the “lesser” schools. Their auditioned programs are incredibly hard to to get into.

And to kids coming up: I don’t mean to scare you. Yes, these are very difficult odds, but it can be done. Don’t put your eggs all in the “golden” baskets - do your research and keep an open mind. Work hard and good luck!

From what I can tell by gleaning the thread, the Evansville and UNCSA numbers haven’t changed in a while. Does anyone know if they’re numbers are still accurate?

Follow-up questions: If they are, is the addendum to Evansville also correct? Do the ajudicators favor a higher number of males to females, or was that just how the (then) current class was?

This year’s BFA company at Purchase has 21 freshmen.

I’m not sure where the “accepts 38” came from. As far as I know, there is no firm number of applicants accepted…approximately 10% are accepted and in the last couple of years the number of applicants ranged from 500-600. The class yield is correct and is typically 20-25 students.

Believe it or not DePaul has eliminated their cut program beginning with the class of 2016 so I edited - the number was given to me by their director admissions, whom I met with last week.

Reply

The NYU/Tisch numbers could use updating since CAP21 is no longer around, plus it would be interesting if anyone knows how many Acting versus MT kids are admitted and what the ~ yield usually is.

I think someone said in another thread that Webster accepts ~45 to yield ~20 (not sure how many are Acting versus MTs)?

I also think some recent numbers for Ryder were mentioned on another thread.

from our perambulations this year–

BU auditions 800-900, plans to accept 100 to yield 40-45

Emerson auditions 1600, looking for 25 MT and 25 Acting BFAs, and also accepts from that pool into the Theater Education:Acting BA, and Theater Studies: Acting BA
