Sizes of our Spiral Notebooks

What would be a necessary size (in pages) for our spiral notebooks for college? I heard you take lots of notes but then again I heard its average. So im not so sure how big the notebooks should be when i buy them.

It really, really, depends on the courses.
For chemistry I needed a 2 subject notebook, for some other classes I needed about 5 sheets of paper.

Once you get the syllabus and meet the professor, you should be able to guesstimate.

On the first day of classes you don’t need to be super prepared anyway, just bring a little notebook. Most professors I’ve had either didn’t really teach the first class or didn’t go very much into depth since many people are still switching in/out.

I just buy a 5 subject notebook and use one section for each course. Some courses I’ll need an additional single subject notebook, but usually I only use about half of a section in the 5 subject.

I also write really small…In a class that I had with my roommate last spring, we were comparing notes while we studied for a test, and what she covered in 5 pages, I covered in a little over 2. I write small, she writes big.

It definitely depends on your classes and the difficulty of them. I started with only one or two small notebooks and I didn’t finish them but then towards the end of the year, I needed multiple notebooks for one class. Usually you will need to take a lot of notes for the math and science classes, unless you already know the material for it. Start out small and check your syllabus when classes start, then you can gauge from there.

I use several 1-subject notebooks.

I started using Staples 1-subject notebooks. They’re about 70 pages per notebook and are, sadly, not college-ruled. I find that one notebook is more than enough for a class, unless it’s a two-semester sequence. But then again, I have really small handwriting.

Wow.
You get one point for the most pointless question of the day.

Seriously, just buy whatever’s cheap. If you fill up the notebook, buy another one. If you have extra space left over, use it next semester for another class. Duh.

See when you get there! Jeez!

Back in the olden days many members of the academic community were obsessive about notebook size. No. Wait. Notebooks weren’t the object of obsession…
