Skidmore rolling admissions question

I have a question about how Skidmore’s rolling admissions process plays out. Do many (more than a handful?) applicants actually find out on a rolling basis or are most decisions held until March? Also, if someone happened to receive a “yes” before hearing from a different school they applied ED1 or 2 to, could they accept Skidmore and withdraw their ED at the other school? TIA!

@Mwfan1921 can verify….but the way ED is…you can get other acceptances, but you are supposed to wait to see if you get that ED acceptance and if you do, you are then required to withdraw and pending applications and notify other acceptances that you won’t be coming.

ED is a binding application…you don’t get to pull that one.

Yes, if you receive an acceptance from Skidmore BEFORE the ED result comes out, you can pull your ED app (or convert it to RD.) But, I’m not sure why anyone would apply ED in that case because typically an ED app means that is your first choice school.

If you are admitted to an ED school before you get your Skidmore decision, you are bound to attend the ED school (provided the financial aid package is adequate.)

That’s not how it works

If you get an acceptance from another university before the ED decision has been finalized (not the decision release date, but a few days before that date), you can withdraw the ED app or convert to RD.

You can also do the above for any reason at all.

But once the college locks in their ED decisions, you can’t change and, if accepted, you’re bound by the ED agreement

@skieurope and @Mwfan1921 thanks for the clarification.

Thanks for the clarifications. It is an unlikely scenario, but I was posing it to help me understand what might happen if that embarrassment of admissions riches were to befall us. And my DS is committed to their ED choice, so in addition to being hypothetical, it is probably a moot point anyway.

And really I should have asked the questions separately as my real question is about Skidmore’s rolling admissions – other than with respect to their QB and ED applicants, when does the rolling get rolling?

AFAIK Skidmore does not have rolling admissions?

Correct. It does not have rolling admissions.

Clearly I am an idiot. It is their pre-college program that has rolling admissions. Good thing I am not the one applying. Sheesh! Sorry for all the confusion!
