Skill Level

I got the forms to fill out to select your classes but I have a few questions.

It says: Are you a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player (saxophone)?
As a fourteen-year old I would say I was pretty advanced, but in comparison to other BS students I might only be intermediate. What should I do??

Put advanced. If that is what you think you are. That or email/call the teacher of sax there and see what the average level level is, like what they play. Ask around.

look at the all state band requirements for the state the school is in. where i live, we have to play all 12 scales in under 3 minutes for 9th and 10th grade and under 2 min. for 11 and 12. if you can do all those requirements and think you would have a chance of making the All-State band, or if you’re close, put advanced. but the scales are a good assesment. if not, put intermediate. or just call and ask…
