After 50, everything wrong for my skin. Super dry during winter, sensitive when seasons change. Oily during hot season. Wrinkle coming out, acne, pore, dark spots…

I tried everything, from counter to expensive department stores. Went to derm doc twice a year for suggestions, but no improve.

I had a coupon for nearby salon and went last week for a facial. They use Skinceuticals products. After the facial, the lady gave me some samples to try at home. So far, they are good, I can feel my skin more comfortable and smooth every morning. But, I’m still afraid to spend money to buy the actual products. So many experience before, tried something, feel good, bought, after one month or so, doesn’t work, sit int the cabinet forever.

Does anyone use Skinceuticals ? What’s your experience? Are they really good?

Go to the Cosmetics Cop website (located as you might guess), put Skinceuticals in the search box and you’ll get to a whole page of commentary. Paula Begoun sells her own line of skin care and cosmetics via this site, but also provides some very fair critiques of major product lines, giving praise where due. She has mixed views of the Skinceuticals line, liking some products and not liking others.

I use C E Ferulic serum and the Hydrating B5 gel. I like both products but I don’t use them exclusively nor everyday…I have a number of products I use to keep my skin looking good.

Roc Retinol eye lotion and face lotion (in pm)
Cetaphil facial lotion (good basic moisturizer)
Reviva Glycolic Acid lotion (in am)
CeraVe am or pm lotion (use in place of RoC or Reviva products)

I tend to rotate my lotions around depending upon how my skin is doing. I often use the Skinceutical products to ‘plump’ up my skin. I didn’t find that using them everyday made a big difference but I do like them and will buy them again when they run out.

My favorite place for makeup reviews is makeupalley dot com. Go to the reviews section. I also have the Paula Begoun books. They are helpful, especially for ruling out products before wasting money on them.

And drink LOTS of water. That seems to make a huge difference in my skin.

I use the C E Ferulic serum, and consider it magic. It makes a visible difference in my skin. I have learned not to buy the full-size bottle. It goes bad before you use it (you use only a few drops every morning. When it is fresh, it is clear with a faint yellow tinge and runny. When it gets old, it gets darker and thicker and starts to smell. I buy packages of 6 sample sizes from an Ebay seller, always checking with her first to make sure they are fresh. I keep them in the refrigerator and only keep the one I am using in the medicine cabinet. A sample size will last about a month.

I find makeupalley very helpful. I don’t like the Paula Begoun site.

I use them and love them. When the place I was buying them from stopped carrying them, I started ordering online. LOVE the under eye moisturizer.

I also use C E Ferulic serum–I’ve used it daily for about 18 months and I think it really does work and plan to continue to use it. I also use skinceuticals sun screen spf 30. Not sure if they have more than one type but this comes in a silver tube. Doesn’t sound like we really have the same skin issues…mine tends towards oily and i’ve only recently realized that I don’t seem to break out at all anymore. I always hated putting lotion-y things on my face but the serum and the sunscreen work great and don’t make me feel greasy. Buoyed by my success, I bought a cleanser – smells like oranges – and hated it as I couldn’t rinse it all off. Too heavy for me so I returned it.

I prefer this over the big bottle. I can sometimes find the sample size packages on Amazon. I save the empty bottles and fill one with the B5 gel to use when I travel.

Terwitt - which under eye moisturizer do you use? Looks like they have a bunch. I can forsee more Skinceutical products in my future.

I use EltaMD moisturizer/SPF 40, year-round. I have skin that breaks out, and I can’t stand to have anything heavy or greasy on my face. This sunscreen is the only one that doesn’t bother me. It also doesn’t sting my eyes, even though I put it on my upper and lower eyelids. Another point in its favor - I read on a sunscreen website that it is one of the few that doesn’t break down, so the sun protection lasts all day.

SkinCeutical’s CE Ferulic has gotten a lot of rave reviews. However, if you don’t want to splurge $150+, another option is Paula’s Choice’s new C15 serum.

I’ve never tried Paula’s serum, though. But it does like many people like it. Are they any other vitamin C serums that you would recommend?

I battle with hyperpigmentation and I worry about premature aging. So, I’m trying to be proactive now.

I recently purchased Skinceuticals Phloretin CF and NeoCutis BioSerum…not sure if they are “doing” anything yet (especially for the price!) my skin feels very smooth after using them…and does look “brightened”… but they smell yucky! Does the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic smell better?
These are my first “fancy” products as a nod to my advancing age and desire to preserve my skin…prior I have always simply washed with safeguard soap and topped off with Clinique Dramatically different moisturizing lotion so this is a big step…

I have used SkinCeutical’s CE Ferulic for 5+ years now. I put it on each morning after washing my face and follow up with skinceutial’s Physical UV Defense SPF 30 after a dermatologist scraped off what she called ‘pre-cancerous cells’ off the bridge of my nose. My skin seems to be aging well and I haven’t had a recurrence of any pre-cancer so I will continue to use both products. I find frequently they are less expensive on ebay but the CE IS expensive, regardless where it’s purchased.

Thinking that the rest of the line might be good for me, over the years I tried a cleanser (not sure which one but I have oily/combination skin), an eye cream and antioxidant lip repair but none were all that special and they were too expensive to not be outstanding. So, I will continue to use CE and the sunscreen but will forego other products. Also, I tried the sunscreen with 50 spf and didn’t care for it so continue to exclusively use the 30.
