Skipping straight to General Chemistry?

Hello, so I am taking intro to chem in college and realized that I didn’t have to and I could have skipped straight to General Chemistry. The problem is that I am at a junior college and I just don’t feel like trying anymore because I took the same class in high school and received a B. Also the drop deadline is long gone!

If I transferred to a school like San Jose State University and I failed intro to chemistry at my junior college, will I be able to skip to General Chemistry even though I passed in high school? Also, there is no prerequisites for general chemistry at SJSU!

I’m sorry to add but the withdraw deadline is also gone as well.

If you got a B in highschool then there must had been some info you did not fully grab a hold of. Just get through it so you can take general chem in the spring.

Most colleges have the option of allowing an instructor-generated withdrawal after the deadline for a student withdrawal. Check with your instructor to see if that is a possibility.
If there is no way to get out of the class, then you should stick with it and do well. If you got a B in Chem in HS, you presumably should be able to do the same or better. Lastly, it sounds like you should get a better academic advisor.

Will dental school calculate the remedial class as my overall gpa when I apply? Or will it not be on my transcript at all?

I suspect that all college-level courses count toward your GPA. At my community college, General Chem Prep is numbered at 140, and it is required for anyone who did not have a rigorous quantitative chem course in HS. As such, I would not consider it to be strictly, ‘remedial’.
