Skull and Bones

Does Skull and Bones have any say, influence, pull on admissions

My interviewer told me that some secret societies do have some influence in the admissions process… He was very cryptic about it, so I didn’t really know what to make of it.

So what, you have like a connection to one of the members?

the society members might want kids whose parents were society members.

“My interviewer told me that some secret societies do have some influence in the admissions process… He was very cryptic about it, so I didn’t really know what to make of it.”

i am pretty sure that anyone who is in a secret society and who actually knows anything about them for a fact is not going to tell it to some high school senior he is interviewing.

i would also guess that alumni who are skull and bones have a high success rate at getting their kids into yale, given that they are in all likelyhood rich and well connected.

i know someone who is in skull and bones… ovbiously they dont tell people about what they can and cant do… however they have pull in some cases, for example: He was stuck in miama i believe 2 years ago when the airport was closed due to a hurricane. they allowed a special plane to land and take him back to New York. And everyone knows enough money can influence any descision… and apparently skull and bones doesnt allow their members to retire non-millionaires.

You need a godlike network of influence to join Skull and Bones. And once you do join, your godlike network multiplies by several hundred times.

interesting tidbit: apparently dan brown, the author of the da vinci code, is working on a follow-up about skull & bones and its connection to the highest levels of the cia and government. look for clues about the new book on the book jacket of the da vinci code. im sure if an author of dan browns status wanted to get inside s&b, hed be able to.

whats funny?

There was a movie about Skull and Bones of few years back. It seemed pretty pathetic. Why would anyone want to be a member of that?

Skull and Bones has changed much over the years. It is not as exclusive to gain entry to anymore, by that I mean you don’t have to be a Bush, Kerry, Kenedey, etc. They select those who are very connected as well as those who are very influential on campus. I am fairly certain that women are now allowed in as well.

Unless I’m incredibly naive I don’t believe for a second this garble of skull and bones not letting its members “retire millionaires” and providing exclusive planes to its members before natural disasters.

well they own an island and 11 of them are in the bush administration…the plane thing seems to be too much of a stretch though

Ironically, Skull and Bones is now over 50% women and mostly admits avowed Marxists. It is just a dinner and discussion group for a dozen members of the senior class at Yale. They only have meetings on Thursday evenings and Sunday nights for a couple hours, so it’s not like they are some kind of exclusive group.

Of course, it used to control the U.S. government and military-industrial complex, but those days are over.

yeah, the new Skull and Bones is pretty different from the old boys’ club it used to be.

It is rumored that Jeff Brenzel, the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions, is a bonesman.

I thnk that rumour is false. If you know one name one the list you can find them all and I have a friend who was on it…and J. brenzel is not on that long list

this elitist **** disgusts me.

jason, the Skulls and Bones is no where near as elitist as it used to be, and even so, it exerts minimal influence on the social life of undergrads.
