Tomorrow my 20 years old D will jump out of an airplane! I’m very very nervous!! who can give me more information on that kind of " sport"…

My next door neighbor did 68 jumps as an Army Ranger back in the 1960s. He said he’s pass on it as a sport.

I’ve been parasailing and been hanggliding. My son took parasailing lessons/training when he was 16.

What do you want to know aboout sky diving? Google will get you a lot of information.

I’ve heard well over 60% make the first jump safely.

kidding around, of course.

Solo or tandem?

tandem… I want to be tomorrow night already!

Ginger, she will be ok. She will be strapped tight to an experienced instructor.

(That said, I’d be pins and needles if one of our young ladies decided to do this).

Keeping fingers crossed for you. :)

I jumped when I was in college, it was a static line jump from only 2500 feet.

Not exciting enough for the money that I felt the need to do it a second time.

My parents were pretty upset, though.

S1 did it several years back. He said it was the best two minutes of his life.

I jumped static line twice in college. It was something I wanted to try, and it was very exciting. People are generally amazed when I tell them about it now.

I would be a wreck if one of my kids were going, but tandem is probably as safe as it’s going to get for her. You can only hope once or twice will be enough to satisfy her.

My D1 did tandem skydiving. She called me immediately after she landed to let me know she was alive. She has also gone hang gliding. She let me know about this, again, after the fact.

I saw a video of her skydiving and pictures of her hang-gliding, and they both scare the hell out of me!

She was hiking out west a few weeks ago and was on a trail in Zion National Park that had a warning sign that said 6 people had fallen and died on this trail in the last 7 years. She said she was really scared on this trail. That is not usual for her to be scared of anything.

She new not to let me know until she was home. My rule is to let me know after the event!

D did tandem jump about a week ago. (a group on deal)
I jumped static line when I was 21.

She said she wasn’t afraid at all, which I found quite astonishing. It’s quite a moment when you are at edge of the plane door right before the step out, but the rest is very smooth.
The landing is just like stepping down from a stair step.

I wasn’t worried at all, but then again I did it long, long ago!
Report back!

We are leaving in 2 hours… the whole family and some friends, but she will be the only one jumping because it’s her birthday gift( she turned 20 last Monday). The weather is beautiful today and I’ll try to remain calm for the rest of the day…I’ll post when we come back. Fingers crossed

She did it!!! it’s was amazing!

Last time my DS jumped, a girl who jumped with them (and they were all tandem) broke both her legs in the landing. I waited til yours was over to tell you :)

I’m so glad she had a good time and glad for you that it’s over!

Phew… So glad she was OK. I hope the costs will prevent her from making this into a “hobby”. :)
