Hey All! I am a current senior debating between 3 main schools (as of right now, not considering deferred decisions, which come out later). My main schools that I am considering right now are Purdue University (west lafayette), SLU, and UIC. My major is Biochemistry under pre-med with a possible minor in CS later on. I was hoping someone could help me weigh the pro’s and cons of each school for my major and goals of getting into a top medical school in the future. Any help would be appreciated because im having a hard time weighing the pros and cons for these schools (specicially UIC and SLU).
price shouldnt be an issue for both, UIC is around i think 14-17K a year and as of right now with SLU’s Scholarship is around 26K for me which is fine too. However I was down in campus for a weekend for the presidential scholarship interviews, so if I get that the cost will go down completely.
Are you in state Purdue or it’s $40kish without scholarship.
Or are you focused on only the two - UOC and SLU?
Obviously very different schools.
Good luck on the scholarship. When you were there, how did you feel about the school and it’s fit for you vs UIC? SLU is mid size vs large of the other two with Purdue a bona fide flagship.
SLU had to feel different than the others. Remove the scholarship and pre med, which fits best ?
Did you check the ability to minor in cs at each ?
For example Purdue says anyone can do but then says “The CS department cannot guarantee students seeking a minor access to any courses.”
I personally Love SLU’s campus, however I do not like the city. I Haven’t been to UIC yet, however I know chicago inside and out and like chicago a lot more than st. louis. and for specifically SLU and UIC both can provide me with a CS minor. Purdue is the only one that is iffy on the CS minor, mostly because of its competitiveness. However I am still considering purdue just because it is a really good school
