Tomorrow is our local Small Business Saturday in response to Black Friday. Support local, small businesses.
Does this happen where you are? What do you like to support?
I have an acquaintance I’ve known for decades who owns the best gift shop boutique in town and I love to get my DIL’s something from her shop every year.
Yes, we have it here in Southern California. I get several emails from friends who own small businesses.
Our small New England city is all in. This evening is the tree lighting downtown. Lots of businesses participating tomorrow. There’s also an open-til-midnight event in December (we usually roll up the sidewalks by 7 PM).
Def Small Business Saturday here in Ohio tomorrow. In the past I have made it a point to go to a couple of local shops for a gift or even just a coffee. Won’t be out shopping tomorrow but may walk down to the neighborhood coffee shop to support - and did stop at a local small ethnic supermarket today! I support the day! - should be more than once a year!
I try to always shop small business. If we don’t support independent, local, real entrepreneurs we won’t have them.
My locally owned yoga studio has a great deal on year long and 6 month passes for SBS. Bonus this year- online purchase option!
When we lived in San Diego there was a small family owned sporting goods store that we spent FAR too much money at over 3 years. I always went there, at least, on SBS. Here I would have liked to go to the new bookstore on Franklin St (Chapel Hill), but I’m not able to walk.

All gifts are/will be online purchases this year. I’ve found some wonderful gifts (like a gorgeous lambswool scarf from Ireland for S19!!), but it doesn’t really FEEL like xmas since I’m stuck on the couch. At least DH and sons put up the decorations for me already!!
I purchased 3 gifts from a local store and feeling good about it!!
