Hello, I am 15 years old going on 16 in september. I am very good with computers and I’m learning how to script c++ on my own. So my mother said she will put me in some small computer class that slowly teaches me more about computers and my questions are:

Do they have small computer classes?
What are the classes called?
Does my age matter?
I am bad at math, Is that a problem?

ps. I have not learned to type, but I can type very fast in a different way.

At a CC most classes will be small. However, at my school you have to take an “Introduction to Programming/Design” before you can take a Java or C++ course. There may be a way to bypass that if you contact someone in the department and supply an example of code. The purpose of that class though isn’t the code (as we used what is called pseudo-code) but the structure and how the code is organized which may be of good use to you.

You’re looking for a Computer Science class, and at a Community College, there are high school aged students in many classes. I was in a Calculus class with someone who was 16 last Fall, so its not unheard of. There are also classes for A+ (hardware) as well, but they are all grouped under “Computer and Information Science” for my school.

Math shouldn’t be a big deal, but in later courses you’ll probably deal with matricies which are also taught in math classes (College Algebra and Linear Algebra I believe)

Hope this helps.
