Small/Medium Colleges in Big Cities?

Hi everyone.
What small/medium (1,600-10,000 students) colleges can be found in the larger cites of the US? Preferably some with school spirit and a traditional campus.

Thank you!

Rice
Trinity University
Tufts
Brandeis

Other schools I’ve looked at:
Tulane
GA Tech
Emory
SMU

What are you looking to major in and what kind of admissions stats do you have? Because those two factors can weed out a lot of choices

I’d like to go onto a legal track, but I also love writing and real service work.
I was thinking of double majoring in Sociology and Journalism.

My stats aren’t great, or much compared to the majority of this board.
WGPA: 3.8 UWGPA: 3.6 SAT: 1740/1160

Syracuse University (NY) depending on what “larger city” means to you.

Rice
Emory
Tulane
Chicago
to name a few

Columbia University if you just include the undergrads (4,500 +1,500 for the FU school). Barnard, if you include women’s colleges. Georgetown (7,000) if you just include undergrads.

In addition to schools listed above, a majority of the Jesuit universities are mid-sized schools with traditional campuses located in cities throughout the country. There is a list below for you to look at. My S went to Fordham (Bronx campus) and had a terrific experience.
[Member Institutions](http://www.ajcunet.edu/Member-Institutions)

University of Puget Sound
Lewis & Clark
Occidental
LMU
Chapman
University of San Diego
University of San Francisco

Miami, Boston College and Northwestern jump out as they are in major markets with big-time sports programs.

UCLA and USC might be on the larger side of schools, but they are in LA and have good sports programs (LA isn’t a traditional city, so not sure if it is too spread out for what you are looking for).

A few others that don’t necessarily have the big time sports programs but might still fit in with what you are looking for:
Tufts (not really in the city)
Northeastern
Fordham
Georgetown
Villanova
Temple

Not much of a sports school, but Seattle University is nice.

Take a look at St Joseph’s in philly, Loyola in Baltimore and CUA and American in DC.
Another option with a nice vibe where you’d qualify for merit ould be Lesley in Boston.

Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using CC

Brown (Providence)
University of Tulsa
Tennessee State (Nashville)
Rice (Houston)
Clark Atlanta (Atlanta)
Augsburg (Minneapolis)
Belmont (Nashville)
Drake (Des Moines)
Gonzaga (Spokane)

Here’s a search result - 237 schools based on using your size range + city + max CR 640 + Max math score of 640 + your majors
[College Navigator - Search Results](<a href=“College Navigator - Search Results”>College Navigator - Search Results)

You can easily narrow it down by selecting particular states or regions. Also try the CC search tool, it might have more criteria to apply to the search.

Also, what exactly do you mean by “school spirit”? Are you thinking of schools where everyone turns out for the football games?

In (Metropolitan) Boston:
Boston College
Tufts
Brandeis

Macalester (Twin Cities)
Rhodes (Memphis) since you like Tulane.

Brandeis and Tufts are NOT in Boston.
