Small question

Good evening, parents.

I was wondering if the story I am about to tell you is normal. Following my taking of an SAT II test, I was quite surprised to receive not only my score (750+) but an offer from a top college I had sent it to! I am applying there now, but I must ask…is this normal/customary? Do let me know.

Hope all is well where you are.

Yes, it’s normal. Colleges purchase this info. You didn’t receive an offer, just an invitation to apply. It means that they recognize that you did well on your SATs, but it is by no means a guarantee that you will be admitted. They are just trying to convince you to apply.

Congratulations, by the way, on doing well on your SATs. Now do your own research and apply to schools that are good academic, social and financial fits for YOU. Don’t be easily swayed by what the schools send you.

Thank-you, blackeyedsusan. The reason I ask is because one of the schools is well-known for the subject area I sent them and they never got back to me. And I’m actually looking at Rice right now. :)

Good luck with Rice. It’s a great school – I know because my son goes there!

Go Sammy the Owl!
