<p>I go to a very small private school (about 120 students) that does not offer AP courses. All we have are a few honors classes and some dual credit classes for juniors and seniors. The school does informally divide people into the “smart class” and the “dumb class,” but we don’t have any official AP or IB stuff. I am taking all of the “smart classes” as well as both dual credit classes that Juniors are offered this year. I am worried that colleges will think I didn’t get enough “academic rigor.” I am first in my class, but first out of 30 isn’t exactly a grand achievement. Rice University is my first-choice school. I would also go to Princeton if I could get in, but Rice is almost as good and much closer. My SAT scores are pretty good (800 Critical Reading, 770 Math, 720 Writing) and I could squeeze thirty or forty more points out of the writing if necessary. I would like to know what my chances of getting into Rice and/or Princeton are. I am of course looking at some “safety schools,” mostly in Texas where I live, but Rice is my first choice.</p>
