Small unknown undergrad

I attend a small, and relatively unknown public undergraduate university. I transferred here from University of Kentucky after my freshman year. I have just finished my sophomore year. I have 3.6 GPA, and its probably only going to increase since it was my freshman year that weighs it down now.

I’m looking at PhD programs in geochemistry, or geophysics. How difficult is it to go from a small public university to a good graduate program?

Where you went to undergrad doesn’t matter much. What matters is what you do there. Get involved in research in your field, get excellent grades, develop close relationships with professors who will write you recommendation letters and advise you on applications, and get good scores on the GRE.
