Small-waisted pants?

I realize there are many worse problems, but I lost a little weight and I think it all went from my waist. Everything that fits in the hips is WAY too big in the waist.

Any brands known for being “small-waisted”? I need jeans and work pants. I don’t wear skirts :-).

I have wide hips and a smaller waist and I find Lee jeans and pants fit my body type. I live less than an hour from a VF outlet so usually purchase pants there.

This is my problem in a nutshell - except I’ve never been able to find any that fit super well. Everything is either too short, too loose, or too tight in the calves (for skinny jeans). Wistful tone I had one pair that fit near perfect… they’re all worn out now. Tried to order some in the exact same size online and they were too tight. I guess I’m designed for belts.

Advice from Stacy and Clinton: buy the pants that fit the widest part of your torso and alter the rest. There are much better options than momjeans!

Many of the brands that are designed to fit curvy figures work better for a higher waist to hip ratio - NYDJ and AG Angel jeans. J. Crew has a a few styles, as does J. McLaughlin.

Try getting jeans with a lower rise. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but you may grow to prefer it since you’ll be skipping the waist problem entirely!

A waistband about 1" below your belly button might work.

I have this problem also but find that the lands end fit 2 pants work pretty well. <a href=“Lands' End | Guided Navigation”>http://www.landsend.com/shop/womens-pants-crops/-/N-fy5Zk0m

I’ve had great luck with the curvy fit pants and jeans at Loft and Ann Taylor. All the better when you can catch one of the 40% off sales.

I think Gourmetmom meant “lower waist to hip ratio”. If the waist is the numerator… Yes, all of the brands that she mentioned have some styles that fit the curvier bodies. Some of Eileen Fisher jeans can also work, but they might cost you a leg.

You can order a bunch from Zappos to try them in the comfort of your home and then ship back whatever you do not like. Write down the styles that worked and if they go on sale, you’d know what to buy.

Jeans for curvy ladies are easier to find, but dressier pants could be more challenging.

Does anyone remember Chic jeans? During high school & college I loved those jeans. The waist was perfect for me - tho that was before kids so my hips were probably a lot smaller then.

I have the opposite problem – big waist, no hips. Plus sizes assume curves in places where I don’t have them. Wore a pair of pants in my new smaller non-plus size tonight – they fit the waist but I had a big handful of fabric on each hip. The straight cut pants are an improvement but still baggy. Nonetheless, it’s a good problem to have. :)

I’ve heard that CJ by Cookie Johnson and apple bottom jeans are good for curvier bodies.

My favorites are Lucky Brand jeans

My hips are WAY wider than my waist, like to the tune of 10-12in-- and I just went jeans shopping yesterday! I switch between levi and lee jeans depending on which brand is more flattering on my current size-- when I was a 14-16 it was levi, 10-12 lee, 6-8 levi again. The difference was how it fit in the thigh at the time. The lee jeans feel thinner and less structured and sometimes that does not look so great in the thigh, the levis are heavier duty jeans and smooth things out better for me. I had a pair of gloria vanderbilt straight leg jeans that I loved, too. When I was a 10, my vera wang jeans were the best jeans I’d ever owned in my life (but run a size small, I wore a 12 when I was a 10.) You’re going to laugh (I did), but you might like some of the less trendy looking Jennifer Lopez jeans at kohls if all else fails-- I literally laugh at most of her line but just found some perfectly respectable shorts and jeans in her brand yesterday because her clothes are designed proportionately for a smaller waist and a little more booty (the ones I bought are normal washes with no tears or anything weird, I don’t wear stuff like that.) I like mid-rise pants, about a half inch to an inch below the belly button. I always buy the apt 9 “curvy fit” black dress pant for work, the one with the pink stripe on the inside of the waist band. That brand’s different fits are color coded, the blue is “modern fit” which also worked for me in the 10-16 range but doesn’t anymore, I stick with my curvy fit now. These are washer and dryer safe and don’t need to be ironed-- yay!

I am younger but the jeans I wear, I think, are pretty age appropriate for anybody as long as they fit. I don’t wear rips or weird washes or bedazzled back pockets.

Ya know, when I was growing up, the ideal waist-hip differential was 10"-12"!

Taking notes as I read through these posts.

My waist and hips are 11.5" in difference. (Just measured…I was surprised! ). Pants never fit me right. Shorts are always larger at the waist and they slide up as I walk. I wear low rise pants (3" below belly button), mainly because they are more likely to fit flush around my entire waist. Glad I’m not alone!

That’s the story of my life. The best fit pants for me are the curvy fit pants at Talbots, Ann Taylor and Loft. Loft also has a fit called “Julie” for a curvier fit.

Second (or third) the Loft curvy “Julie” fit.

NYDJ…about an inch or so below the waist is,where they sit. Very comfortable.

Had some success with Lee Jeans, but I think what I need is size 4 short NOT 4 petite short. The non-petite versions give a little more hip room. My waist is approx 26-27" and my hips are approx 36". By the charts this is around an 8, but vanity-sizing abounds and the 8’s are swallowing me these days!

I guess I’ll go to the dreaded mall. Those NYDJs are way over my price preference. Might be fun to try them on just to see though. I’m kind of a quantity over high-quality kind of girl. I wear things for a while and then donate. I can’t imagine paying > $100 for jeans - yikes!

There’s a Loft outlet - I will checkout the Julie’s. Thanks!!!
