Smc

i dont really get what South MOuntain COllege is… could somebody please explain.

Here’s a [list of links](South Mountain College - Lehigh University - College Confidential Forums) that will help.

As per the [online description](http://cas.lehigh.edu/casweb/content/default.aspx?pageid=329), it’s “a campus community dedicated to the exploration of ideas across disciplines.”

A lot of ideas/concepts lend themselves to being explored in a multi-disciplinary approach. For example, last semester SMC looked into the general idea of ‘shape’. Disciplines like the psychology of perception, art/architecture, math (fractal analysis), philosophy, etc. can all be utilized as tools to explore this concept.

One benefit of this type of education is that one gets away from the old adage, ‘If the only tool you have is a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail’.

thanks… that was really helpful
im thinking about majoring in economics and i am considering applying to SMc… but not sure yet.
