DD was accepted to Smeal pre major (also applied to Schreyer) and hopes for acceptances at smaller schools with Biz undergrad programs that would feature smaller classroom experiences. DD likes interactions with teachers in HS.
We know the power of the Smeal network, but curious about the classroom experience. Can anyone share knowledge or experience about the size of: premajor Smeal classes, “in major” classes, and schreyer business classes? How about interactions with professors?
I can’t speak to the honors courses, but the intro Smeal courses are typical large lecture halls ranging from 250 to 350 students. This includes Acctg 211, Mngt 301, and MKTG 301. Add in required calculus and there are some hefty weed out courses.
Congratulations! Smeal is a tough admit as a freshman. Did she get invited to Saphire?
If she wants smaller classes, she has to take the honors version whenever possible, except in math (where honors calculus is proof based and designed for future math/physics majors). She’d have small classes in English 30 or Schreyer seminar, Economics Honors, and Foreign language.
