What is a typical first semester look like for a freshman? My daughter just transferred in from another LEP. She is attending a mini orientation next week but I’m curious what classes people are signed up for. Thanks very much.

Most freshman take business statistics, calculus, micro/macro economics, ENGL101, communications, and some core/electives. This is the first two semesters. If you have AP credits you dont have to take calculus, economics, and english. Can you transfer from another LEP without applying? I wanted to transfer from smith school to engineering but didnt want to apply again.

Here are links with info and the app…I think the OP may have done the “transfer” process before matriculating so may be different at this point for you and I would assume you need to go by the standard internal transfer guidelines.

Yes she transferred in before her freshman year even started. She notified admissions of her desire to change majors. She was given admission to Smith based on her high school performance. She emailed them in the morning and by afternoon had been accepted to Smith. Also she came in with over 30 AP credits, most of the ones mentioned in the above post.

I was very pleased to see Smith ranked #18 in the new USNWR. My daughter loves it so far. I’m surprised by how many evening events there have been. Her non Smith friends don’t seem to have nearly as many events going on. We’ve been very impressed so far!
