This is the official discussion thread for Smith Class of 2029 RD applicants. Ask your questions and connect with fellow applicants.
My daughter received her acceptance to Smith on Friday. We are planning to visit campus as soon as possible and could use some tips about where to stay.
Look towards South Hadley. There is a Hampton Inn there that is nicely located between Smith and Amherst. The Hotel Northampton in Northampton is really nice - but pricey. Plenty of places to stay in Springfield, but that’s further away. Congratulations to your daughter! Smith is a very special place.
We have found the Fairfield in Northampton to be convenient. Congrats!
Take a look at the Ellery in Northampton. It’s within walking distance to Smith College.
I’ve seen the 21st on reddit
Hi!! Is anyone else getting a sign telling you to rest your net partner password because it will expire in 7 days when you try to login?? I can’t tell if this means anything with decisions coming out so soon.
Hiii I don’t see that but I also made my net partner account super late, maybe it just has to do with when you made your account? Not sure, but good luck!!!
confirmed release 3/21 3-5pm EST
good luck to everyone tomorrow!
Accepted!!
Waitlisted. Anyone have odds on this?
Per common data set, in 2022-23, 37 students were accepted off the waiting list (from 1132 who accepted a place on the list).
In a thread for another college I saw the advice “contact the Admission’s officer whose region you are in. Send letter with any updates, grades, awards, etc and express that it is first choice and you will go if offered” which is probably sound advice if it is your first choice.
Thank you for the stats. And that is very sound advice. I appreciate your thoughts.
Quick question: Admissions decisions supposedly came out a couple days ago on 21 March. But my child’s Smith portal doesn’t have any decision–no posting of any kind. Has anyone else not gotten a decision yet? Today is Sun the 23rd of March. Thanks!
Reach out to your admissions officers on Monday
were you able to get a decision?
Thanks for that suggestion. Turns out she was looking at the financial aid portal instead of the admissions portal. She didn’t want me hovering when she opened the portal, so I didn’t know it was the wrong one. sigh. I know this makes me sound a million years old, and I’m sure posting admissions decisions online saves schools a ton of money in postage. But I miss mailed decisions.
