Waitlisted
I think this is a really tough admissions environment, so your daughterâs results are not uncommon. Iâm sure the roller coaster is really tough right now, but the two great admissions are wonderful! Congratulations to her on those! Good for her putting herself out there to apply to so many schools, but of course she can only attend one, so two great acceptances to schools who see something special in her is great! I hope that she is loving the schools that love her back. Hugs to both of you navigating this journey. You are doing great!
Thanks. She is much more focused on the ones that wanted her, thank goodness. She was definitely surprised and confused by all the waitlists - it ended up being 7! She is also not ruling out our 2 main state schools.
accepted with stride! surprised and thrilled! does anyone know anything about the quality of the program? it sounds fantastic on paper but idk
I donât have first- or even secondhand information about Stride, but everything Iâve read about it is positive. Beyond the $$$, the work with a professor is reputedly legitimate and substantial.
Congrats! Thatâs a huge honor!
My Smithie was not in Stride, but knows Stride scholars that have worked in their lab. The work is true research workâvery legitimate! My understanding is that they may not get the profess or of their choice, but the work and the experience is good.
Thank you!
Good to know, thanks for the info!
My Smithie is a STRIDE scholar and has had a fantastic experience. She is a gov major, who was matched with a professor in the school of Education who has a research lab that had a huge project going tied to legislative advocacy around early childhood educator compensation. Within two weeks of school starting my Smithie was submitting a grant proposal and booking airfare/accommodation for a student research/legislative conference in DC.
My daughter is a Stride Scholar. Itâs a great program. Her research was published by the end of her Freshman year. Stride is great, but itâs only one piece of what makes Smith so wonderful. There are so many other wonderful things to look forward to. Congratulations!
Anyone going to Smithie Saturday this weekend?
Anyone know if Smith has pushed back their decision day beyond May 1st like so many other schools? My daughter was waitlisted and wondering if now they wonât notify students regarding the waitlist until later than usual (realizing getting off waitlist is a LONG shot as it is).
They have not pushed back the date and indicated they donât plan to. I think most of the schools that have pushed back are non-CSS Profile schools. It does seem like many families are waiting longer in the process to commit somewhere b/c they are waiting for their FAFSA to clear and get firm offers. I imagine Smith will notify waitlist applicants at the usual time. Hang in there and good luck!! Definitely keep them updated about any awards/accomplishments, etc. and that your daughter remains very interested.
Thank you!! Glad to hear that they havenât pushed back their May 1st deadline!
My daughter has kept in touch with her admissions counselor and let them know she will happily enroll if admitted and she emailed them about an academic award she just received. Fingers crossed!!!
We are excited about the just released house assignments and are gearing u for Convocation! Definitely makes it more real!
