SMU Cox (BBA Scholar) vs W&L for Business

I don’t have much to add to the above posts, but since I was tagged by a couple people, I will try to add information that may be of interest to @Izzy74 and other readers interested in W&L. My D is STEM/pre-med so I can only share personal comments on campus culture but not the business programs. (Other than my D loved her econ class. :))

  • W&L continues to invest in its Business School and will open new facilities this fall. Here is an article on current campus improvements.
  • My D is very involved in the Outing Club (as well as other ECs). Students are allowed to “check-out” campus vehicles on a first-come basis to drive to activities. So students who do not have cars on campus are not disadvantaged by lack of transportation. My D does have her car at school but opts to check out a campus vehicle for a weekly activity an hour away to avoid that wear on her personal car.
  • If you haven’t tried it yet eat at Harden’s, a newer family-owned gastropub just across Jefferson Street from Hillel. It is popular so plan accordingly.

I’m happy to answer specific questions or connect your son with my D’s friends in the B-school. Great choices! He can’t go wrong.

And doesn’t take reservations, unfortunately.

Correct. Reservations only for groups of 8 or larger. We found that out last weekend.

Interesting. Thanks for posting. Also, the top 5 is interesting, maybe not who you’d expect - especially the top two.

The University of Dayton ($75.5 million), University of Minnesota ($53.5 million), University of Virginia ($32.5 million), Notre Dame University ($31.4 million) and University of Iowa ($26.7 million) comprised the top five in the rankings.

And they have stock tips or holdings on there - some I haven’t heard of (blue column, right hand side) - time to look at a few

Well, we’re here at W&L today, he loves it and I think we’re done. I think.

If you had asked me a year ago if S25 would wind up at my alma mater I would have said no way. Shows what I know.

CONGRATS!!!

Omg, you are going to have so much fun over the next 4 years! (And so, I suppose, is he  )

My four years is coming to a close; I feel such a connection to the school, it will always have such a special place in my heart.

I’m so happy for you and for him. What an incredibly lovely, special place to go to school! (pain to get to from PacNW but you’ll manage.)
