We are waiting on pins and needles with a current deferred status. This is DS’s #1 choice. It’s a stretch financially but we would make it work because we believe the ROI from Cox would be worth it. He loves all things Mustang and Dallas. Hoping they make decisions soon! Working on plan B but is not nearly as excited about rest of his list.
@CollegeMom70 when did your son receive his denial from Cox?
@byntyme pretty sure she posted back in Dec the same info.
He applied EA as he applied to University of Richmond ED. He was denied then SMU with Cox was his top choice. He was accepted to SMU but denied Cox.
He heard back a couple weeks after EA decisions.
I’m not sure I responded but my son was denied Cox 2 weeks after acceptance to SMU. He’s so disappointed. He’s considering economics.
@CollegeMom70 My nephew from IL went to Pepperdine undeclared major and chose Econ. Econ job offers weren’t happening at Pepperdine. He decided to go to law school and chose UT Austin. He graduated and has a great job as corp attorney with a top firm in Houston. It really depends on what your son sees himself doing after his undergrad. I would find out more info on placements for Econ grads at SMU.
Thanks! He wanted to do Finance. His Admission Representative told him that because of being right in Dallas the Econ majors get the same internships as the Cox SOB students. I believe if he did economics, he would get his MBA. We just didn’t realize how competitive the business schools.
I know this is the EA/ED thread, but does anyone know when the RD decisions are expected to be out?
@jpnichols March 31. You could probably search last year’s thread on here and see if they usually come out a few days before or if they release on the exact date.
Im not sure about RD but from everything ive read on past years posts its sounds like EA and deferral decisions should come out friday!

@shepmom4 So you think deferred decisions will be released before RD? I thought deferred kids receive their decisions with the RD pool.

Looks like it could be earlier than I had thought. However, COX might not follow same timing as this is their first year with direct admit and deferrals.
@ChiGirl12 From looking at last two years posts deferred decisions came out basically the first Friday of March (03/08 in 2019 and 03/09 2018)!
Just spoke with our Regional Rep and she would not commit to any date. Said it will be within next 2 weeks and on the sooner end rather than later. She has no idea if Cox will announce at same time. Said that they usually are posted to your Mustang portal after business hours. My guess is this Friday, March 7th or next Friday 14th. (Smart Friday after hours so they don’t have to field phone calls…). Good Luck to everyone!!
My DD just spoke with admissions department and they said deferred decisions will be released next Wednesday 03/11?
So we think tonight for deferrals? I feel like we would have gotten an email last night saying it would be out tonight like they did for the early action decisions.
@marymac0425 my DD called again this morning and theY said they would be posted later this evening? At least for EA deferrals.
