I cannot rush until next formal recruitment, which is fall of my junior year. And apparently it’s even harder for juniors because they have a quota for sophomores but that doesn’t apply to juniors. Also by junior year it doesn’t matter at that point. I just want to have friends to hang out with outside of school who I feel like I really click with. There are people I want to get closer to but they already have friend groups and sororities are exclusive if you aren’t in theirs. The people that have been easier to meet are just not my people at all so I’m not sure what to do. I feel like freshmen have more friends than me for some reason. Also I’ve always dreamed of being in a sorority so not being in one I love isn’t really an option for me. Also if you aren’t in a sorority or are in a bottom one at smu, you don’t get the same type of college experience. Like I’ve always dreamed of a certain college experience and I’m afraid I won’t be able to experience just because I haven’t found my people yet, everyone else has and are clicky, and I’m not in a sorority that I fit in. The main reason I wanted to join a sorority was to find life long friendships with girls who are similar to me but that’s not the case in my situation.
Ok so if your not eligible for Spring informal rush Did you sign a MRABA during Pref round and decline a bid
Otherwise you should be eligible for Spring
Spring rush is a lot more laid back at most schools, and I know Formal rush can be brutal
Give some of the other chapters another look, during formal rush you only meet one or two girls each round so you are meeting maybe 4 or so girls before pref out of over 200 or so girls in each house
One last thing is houses take into consideration is your GPA with SMU sororities overall average just over 3.5
Ya I can’t do informal recruitment. Also the sororities I connected with most don’t do formal recruitment. I also have perfect grades so I know that wasn’t a factor in cutting me. I was cut by a lot of houses right after open house but I don’t understand why because I made a good impression, was super happy, positive, and interested, dressed stylishly, and had great conversations. I have a really good resume and rec letters too. Most people I know weren’t cut by so many so early on even though they had lower grades.

I understood only one house was really a bottom house and it left this year. Maybe some major clubs or the two business “frats” if you’re in Cox.
I didn’t get into one of the business frats that I had friends in and also did well in the interview. I’m also confused bc I had friends in the sorority houses that dropped me right after open house. I thought I’d be in one of the houses that first dropped me before rush started too. This year open house was just a video too so I never got to go in them. It’s weird too bc I know some sophomores who didn’t know anyone in the houses really but they got in.
