Oh and good thing there was no voting here…because our governor shut down the state except for essential personnel. Voting would NOT have taken place…at all.
Power back and DH finished business taxes last night in anticipation of no power so he’ll be less grouchy. Where is the wine?
We are in SW MA. Currently whiteout conditions outside my office window. And I have to slog up a steep hill to walk home…
I am SO over this winter wonderland. But, hoping the weather will in some way prove helpful to our maple sugaring… then again, who really wants to slog through 2 feet of snow in the woods to fetch those sap buckets? We may all need to wear our fly fishing gear!
Arrggh. Left Nassau a day early (on Monday) hoping to get home (Boston) before the storm. No luck. Six 18 yo girls and I got stuck in Charlotte last night. Are now suppose to fly home Wed morning but the airline will not assign us seats which makes me think they overbooked the flight. One of the girls I am with has a grandmother who is dying. Actually may have already died. Very frustrating. If we cannot get out Wed I may just rent a car and drive. We should have Judy stayed at Atlantis.
Our forecast was for 8-15 inches. We currently have 21 inches with another 3-6 expected.
@doschicos And apparently another Nor Easter next week.
For a small state, CT got anywhere from 2" to over 2 feet of snow. We got around 4-5", but parts of the state east and west of here got more.
We got 23 inches in a suburb of Boston… and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to melt very soon. Lots of cold temperatures and another storm in the seven day forecast.
It was a weird storm. As noted, the snow amounts in CT varied wildly…and it was from town to town…not necessarily east to west or north to south.
Sun is out today…roads are dry.
H left his office (7 miles from our house) around 9:30 last night. Snowing heavily. Roads were awful, cars sliding and some not making it up incline to exit. He got about 1 mile from our house and not a drop of snow falling and roads perfectly clear. He couldn’t believe it when I told him it had pretty much stopped snowing here early afternoon and the little that came down after just melted as soon as it hit the pavement.
I came out a day early to start a trip out of Newark. Though it wasn’t supposed to snow much here, sometimes they miscalculate and I can’t take a chance, so I came in early. They cancelled my trip enroute (for non weather related reasons), so I will have flown all the way across the country and back for no reason. I could have stayed home, and still gotten paid, if I hadn’t left early.
On the other hand, instead of being aggravated, I can look at it like I got free first class tickets across the country, free hotel and three days of pay just to have dinner with my son! Consider it a mileage run.
It’s still snowing lightly here. We apparently had a power failure during the night, maybe about 5 hrs, judging by the time the clocks were blinking. Happily, we were sleeping and didn’t notice it. I have no idea how much snow we’ve gotten. It looks like our plow person must have made a pass sometime in the night, but we need another one. Expecting a fuel delivery today, and THAT is crucial!
On the upside, yesterday I finished binging through season 4 of Mozart in the Jungle, my favorite show.
We got over a foot, not too far from @Consolation. We lost power around 8 am but it was back by noon, when I returned from running errands. Except for the entrance ramp to I-95, the roads were OK. I skidded a little on the ramp, though! Took me by surprise - I’m not sure why it wasn’t plowed adequately.
Going skiing with DH and D tomorrow! Bought lift tickets online for $25/person. Whoo hoo!
