So...beleive this, or not?

I get a text from son saying “wanna go do…?”
I figured he meant to send it to obviously some friend.
He said he didn’t send it. Said his phone sometimes sends random old messages from his phone, maybe even that someone else sent him.
Is this akin to property in Florida, or a real but slight possibility?

I have a bridge you might be interested in…

was there more after the “go do” part?
if it was a sentance fragment, the posibility exists that he opened the text message program and hit someone’s name like “Justin” and then thought he was typing to Justin “wanna go do …” and then the phone caught up and he realized he wasn’t typing in the new window but in an old one…
but if it said a full thought, like “Wanna go get drunk at Atkins hall party” - ummm, no excuse.

a friend grabbed his phone and sent it as a joke. happens all the time. ;)

My son calls it “pocket text.” Unfortunately, his pocket does a lot of texting.

hey, at least you’re hearing from your son!

I guess the question I would have is do you approve of whatever it was they were planning to go do?

not exactly the same, but a few years ago my D’s phone kept dialing random numbers and hanging up. even when it was turned off. we only knew about it because she kept getting voice mails from angry strangers asking why she was prank calling them… it was really weird. Verizon couldn’t fix the problem and we finally had to get her a new number. the problem was apparently with the phone system, not the phone itself.

I got a weird private message on Facebook from my darling sweet niece. It had some odd link in it (I deleted the message and didn’t open the link). She says that she didn’t send it and I believe her.

^^ That’s from a virus or worm or malware, things that invade computers. They don’t invade phones.

the virus on fb issue While on Facebook, look at your URL address; If you see http: instead of https: then you don’t have a secure browsing session and you can be hacked.
Go to Account/Account Settings/Account Security and click Change. Check at least the first setting, FB defaults to the non-secure setting.

My DS1 has called me twice this entire year intentionally :-(, but about once a month his phone calls me accidently :-). At least I can usually hear him chatting happily in the background . Moms of boys - we take ANY communication as a gift!

^^
We get that at work occasionally from our customers who’ve pushed a button without realizing it. I guess this is also a problem for people who carry their phones in their rear pockets. We call it “butt-dialing.”

my D’s enV verizon phone is always pocket dialing. ‘she’ called the other night when she was babysitting the neighbor’s newborn (& 3 other kids) and all I heard was crying. When she got home, I said “rough 2 hours” and she wondered how I knew! (it has never sent me a random text, however)
