So close ... OOS Scholarship ?? 1350 on SAT...

My daughter has wanted to go to Clemson since she was 10 years old. Her grandfather, father, 2 aunts, and 2 uncles have graduated from Clemson. She has worked very hard to achieve her goal of attending Clemson. BUT … we live out of state and she really needs to get the OOS Scholarship to be able to attend.

Here are her “stats”…

SAT - 1350 (math + reading)
Class Rank 21/411 (5%)
GPA (weighted) - 4.66
GPA (unweighted) - 3.8

I have read that the SAT score for the scholarship is 1370 … she is so close. Has anyone received the OOS scholarship this year with a SAT that is lower than 1370?

What do you think her chances are of getting the scholarship? And will she find out on Feb 15 or will it be later?

Thanks

To be honest, I don’t think the chances of getting the scholarship are very good. About half of the students who go to Clemson were ranked in the top 10% of their high school class and I’m sure there’s a good number of people who had SAT’s above 1370. They only have a limited amount of scholarship money because of the decline in state supported funding and Clemson’s #1 priority is the residents of South Carolina. They’ve gotta cut of scholarships somewhere. You’ll probably get a small scholarship but I don’t think chances are that great that you will get the OOS waiver.

But you never know! Good luck!
