<p>So, do you think I can get into Georgetown U (College) EA? I’m giving my Spanish teacher (head of the LOTE department) this week, and hopefully he’ll be able to accentuate my passion for language, while my guidance counselor can reaffirm it and disscuss my dedication to Band and Mathletes. As of this point, I’m a prospective linguistics major.</p>

<p>are you kidding me… i hate you in the best of ways. you’re going to get in. I think. Georgetown anyway. You should be great. Just emphasize your low-income background and interest in linguistics, you’ll be fine.</p>

<p>In denfense of myself in regards to the “Tired Of People With Great Sat’s, Act’s, Gpa, And Ec’s Asking If They Got ‘a Chance’” thread, I’d like to say that I’m not the best writer in the world (and my SAT isn’t 2200+ >:[). Sure, I’d be able to talk about my economic situation or my passion for language, but I doubt it’d be a good essay. I’m going to try and work on it over the summer.</p>

<p>Will relying on recs be enough to convey some of those things about me? Will all my other things be able to support my sub-standard writing abilities?</p>

<p>A few things: 1. don’t be concerned about your SAT composite not being over 2200, Georgetown only looks at CR+M, and 2. is the linguistics program more difficult to get into? I’m not sure. Regardless, you have a good chance; be sure to write good essays. :-)</p>

<p>Well, my CR score is still under 700. My goal on my next test to get 720+ on CR and a 780+ on M. Maybe a 700 on W would be nice to get a 2200 compostie. :/</p>

<p>Getting a 3 on two APs will sink you. Especially if one is english lit.</p>

<p>Oh, another honor thingy… I was just asked to participate in a lot of senior end of the year events. Like their awards breakfast (because I was the school top scorer on the AMC12), the graduation to sit on stage, and the snior breakfast. :D</p>

<p>You’re not getting Stanford if you’re out of state. Your scores aren’t high enough.</p>

<p>Brown, UPenn, and UChicago are all going to be BIG reaches.</p>

<p>stanford is a private school and therefore the state you are from is of little importance. ap scores are used more for placement and receiving credit than for determining admissions. you wont get rejected just because of a three.</p>

<p>If you look at Stanford’s in-state numbers versus its oos numbers, you’ll see a difference. Also: a small percentage of their class is oos, unlike other top tier schools. I know kids who got into Harvard who were rejected by Stanford.</p>

<p>Well, Stanford and UChi aren’t realistic even if I do get in–my mom thinks they’re both too far. So how’s Georgetown, Brown, and UPenn looking for me?</p>
