No store bought ice cream - even from top scoop shops like Jeni’s….is as good.

No store-bought ice cream for us because if we have it, we’ll eat it. I just love ice cream, so it’s self-preservation to have to actually get in the car and go to the creamery for that unadorned single scoop (when I really want a large malted shake). I have very little ice cream self control, so we can’t have it in the house.
As for brands… Is there really any such thing as inferior ice cream?

Until today I can truthfully say I never spent money on grocery delivery. But between 2 out of town trips ( family occasions) and spending the weekend at D’s helping out, I have not really been home in almost 2 weeks. And I’m not feeling well. And it’s pouring outside.

Graeters and Jeni’s are our favorite ice creams, and for better or worse, I get 2 pints most weeks. When it’s on sale, I get more.
Once recently Harris Teeter advertised Jeni’s for something like $1.97 a pint. It was a mistake and they corrected it, but they did let me buy something like 12 pints of it. Don’t ask how quickly I/we ate it…

We bought 1 container of Jeni’s. It was 50% off at WF but it’s very tart blueberry lemon. Will try again if it goes on sale and can get 50% off. Tart doesn’t work well for us.
I only buy frozen ice cream-type products when on sale.

I would personally respond YES some ice cream is inferior. For my palate! Higher butterfat, better ingredients = better flavor, texture - IMO. Ice cream in Canada has a higher butterfat content overall than 
and is a cleaner, richer, flavor.
Graters is delicious.
Jeni’s is delicious.
No need for there to be a competition. They both have their lane. And both of their lanes are original to Ohio!

My son asked if we wanted to join their family in at Disney World in November. He is going for a conference and can stay at the Grand Floridian for $400/night. The cheapest I could find at that hotel was $1200/night so that was a definite no.

I’ll have to keep that in mind. We don’t have a Whole Foods really close by but it’s close to the Farmers market I go to in the summer. I’d like to try it!
Another great Ohio ice cream brand is Homemade brand, their chocolate chip is my absolute favorite! Definitely gotten more expensive but worth the splurge imho
I brown bag my lunch to work. I can’t go pay fast food prices for lunch. Also doesn’t fit in with what I eat.
The other item is concert tickets. Probably the highest I would go is $200 or $250 a ticket and I would like those prices.
But I leave in two days for a land where money doesn’t really count as real. I am heading to LV. Luckily I still know a few tricks to keep the spending down somewhat there.

I have never paid $1200/night for a hotel room—eye-watering for sure! I don’t love Disney enough for such rates.

There absolutely is inferior ice cream, but which ice cream is inferior is subjective and doesn’t strictly follow brand.
As an example of an inferior ice cream, I like strawberry, so I once bought strawberry in the super market brand. It was the worst strawberry ice cream I’ve ever had. Looking at the ingredients, I understood why. The store brand used strawberry syrup instead of actual strawberries, and had far more sugar / corn syrup than strawberry syrup, had a good amount of corn syrup instead of sugar, and also had a good amount of water. I’m guessing these decisions were made to reduce production cost. I like the store brand for some flavors, but I’ll never buy store brand strawberry. I’d gladly pay for the more expensive brand rather than sacrifice on this.
In contrast, while I’m not a big fan of Breyers brand in general, but I like their Breyers natural strawberry. Breyers natural strawberry has 4 significant ingredients –
Milk, Strawberries, Cream, Sugar. Real strawberries are 2nd ingredient, and sugar is last ingredient. It’s a completely different taste than the store brand strawberry syrup ice cream. It’s not rich/creamy ice cream, but you can really taste the natural strawberries rather than sugar (or strawberry syrup).
However, I also likely the more rich/creamer Tillamook or Haggen Daz strawberry. Both brands ingredients begin Cream, Skim Milk, Sugar, Strawberries. This time cream is first, which gives a completely different taste than the Breyers ice cream above, as there is more cream / sugar, and less strawberries. Whether that creamy/rich taste corresponds to “quality” is subjective.

I wanted to update my Burberry trench which I’ve had for almost 2 decades. I recall paying $600-700 for it back then which was and still is expensive! Looked at the new versions of these trench coats… 
$3500?

Totally agree on the concert tickets. I’m just not willing to pay a ton of money to see a glimpse of someone between the heads in front of me (I’m short), and be in such a huge crowd where I’m hearing the people around me sing more than the performer.
The big one for me is Door Dash (yes, I know they sometimes have amazing coupons). We ordered at work once (the one and only time I Door Dashed), and my usual order was almost twice as expensive as when I order in the restaurant. It wasn’t only delivery fees. I’ve learned that prices are also different when you Door Dash. I get so frustrated with my kids constantly Door Dashing. My daughter will Door Dash 1/2 of a Panera sandwich when she doesn’t like what I’ve made for dinner. We live 7 minutes away. My son has Door Dashed from a place within walking distance. My husband even tells the kids he will go pick it up. I swear it’s a generational thing. My younger co-workers think nothing of Door Dashing Starbucks or Dunkin’

I’m just back from Trader Joe’s. Over heard in the produce section two college students, one said to her friend blueberries are 6.99. Her friend said get strawberries they are cheaper.
I love ice cream. Favorites are Jenis and Roris. I usually only buy when on sale.
If I took my husband grocery shopping we would barely buy anything. He has no clue how expensive things are.

Skincare stuff. Sure, perhaps there’s some difference between a $10 face wash and a $40 face wash, but it’s not perceptible to me. I am happy with inexpensive face lotion, eye cream from The Ordinary, make up remover from Neutrogena etc

Just today, I threw out lots of cheap Bath and Body Works body sprays and told myself it was time to invest in “big girl” perfume. But, I just can’t bring myself to spend over $100 on a bottle of perfume.

I replaced an inherited Burberry (at least 20 years old but it was free to me) with a Barbour three years ago. I wear it constantly and it looks brand new. And they are a good value on The Real Real or your local consignment store!
