Yes…even where the tap water is fine. Because…how can we know that about every place in the world. We always get bottled water when we travel, but we also won’t pay hotel prices for it when we can get a whole case for the price of one bottle.
It’s just part of our vacation expenses that we allot for.

My daughter turned me on. Seen them 4 times. The show is always the exact same - with one random old band song done with their opening act - but they are a fun time. For $30.
The lead singer is just one of those cool guys - that’s very likable.
Nonetheless, see all the shows/venues near you - you might find a bargain you want to dip into.
My favorite Thai restaurant in town charges $23 for chicken pad Thai, which I think is high, and our go to Chinese restaurant is pricey, but have free delivery, online ordering and almost half the menu can be prepared gluten free, which we need. We had a fantastic inexpensive Vietnamese restaurant in town that didn’t survive COVID unfortunately.
Agree. Also tap water is never going be as cold as water in a bottle that I can place on the ice (not ice in it) which I don’t trust. And there is something about getting water from the bathroom sink to drink that just turns me off. ( I even use bottled water to brush my teeth.). We travel seldom enough that this just isn’t a major expense or waste.
Drinking bottled water by choice when you travel is fascinating to me. I drink tap water at home and I drink tap when I travel unless it tastes awful (rare) or very rarely when traveling in a third world country where the tap water is demonstrably unsafe (think India, where half the time the bottled water was just tap water in a re-sealed bottle anyway but I did try to avoid it). I’ve drunk tap water all over the world. It would never occur to me to drink bottled water in say Europe any more than I would drink it at home. The microplastics are almost certainly worse for you than anything in the tap water. For me it’s an environmental issue more than a safety issue - if we don’t have water bottles with us we will sometimes buy one bottle and then reuse the bottle during the trip.
Likewise. The only place I did not drink tap water was in Mexico. We were specifically told not to.
I fill my reusable water bottles from my tap at home.
When D was a teen, her friends would only drink bottled water. I can’t tell you how many half empty water bottles were emptied into the dog’s bowl or used to water plants!
Sometimes I use the tea kettle in my room to boil water before I drink it. I don’t feel comfortable in drinking water from a place I am not familiar with.
I remember those days, although that was a way back, now everyone carries a giant insulated water bottle, at least one. My kids carry them around the house as well, like an emotional support bottle. I just refill an actual glass with water or iced tea all day and “gasp” leave the house without an immediate source of hydration.
I wish hotel tea kettles were standard issue everywhere. The only two places I’ve found are the UK and China.
ETA: Actually everywhere I’ve gone in Asia has had tea kettles.
Spouse bought one of those water filtration bottles before we traveled somewhere (don’t remember where) because of health concerns- and yet all those plastic bottles are worrisome as well.
I was skeptical- yet another REI ripoff. Wow- the water tastes terrific!!! Better than the Brita filtered water which we use at home when we remember. And the water from the filtration bottle tastes great both chilled (got to remember to stick it in the mini-fridge at night when you’re in a hotel) and room temperature.
Our home water tastes fine and is perfectly safe so no need for bottled. But the filtration system is great for traveling!
I just came back from Italy (Puglia region) and all the hotels I stayed at had a kettle.
In middle school, I overheard one of D24’s friends asking if we had any “real water” at our house

I would never use any hotel kettles or coffee machines. They are all known to be - nasty. I also would never sit on a fabric couch and I always put a towel on a fabric desk seat.
Even in Mexico I drank tap at the resort hotel in Cancun where they certainly had a filtration system. But agreed not in a random restaurant.
I was staying in a small town near Cancun for a yoga retreat. They specifically asked us not to drink the tap water. Every room had a large jug of bottled water.
Yep, not sure what I do with my $52 lawn tickets for both the Santana&Doobie or Chicago/Styx. Very irritating - fortunately I only paid for he lawn seats but still if this is their attempt to reimburse customers for their misdeeds with Ticketmaster, I don’t get the benefit. PS - I saw Earth, Wind, & Fire there last year and they were magnificent! Actually saw Chicago last year as well, amazing how good 70s music still is!
I am an Extremely Seasoned, roughin’ it Mexico traveler, and I do not touch the tap water, even to wet a toothbrush. I’m not at all a bottled water fan for the plastic reasons, but I make an exception here.
