So, how happy are you at UCSD?

^wow.
american eagle is too homo for my taste (stylish for high school maybe, not college).

sweet social experiment though! i wouldn’t mind reading some of it if you still have it (serious). i’m applying for engineering but humanities are very much intrigue me.

really Balolong? I didn’t notice that they were picking out ppl to hand fliers to. I felt like they were just bombarding everyone w/them. I’ve gotten pretty good at rejecting fliers

i try avoiding librarywalk as much as i can anymore because it just gets annoying…or you can just look crappy one day and walk buy, like youve been in biomed for ten hours and youre the walking dead, it really does work as like an instant repellant haha

a cell phone does wonders for repelling them - sometimes i just pull it out and hold it to my ear so i don’t have to deal with saying “no thanks” to a dozen different people.

especially those CALPIRG people … but i don’t remember it being so bad after my first year or two.

first two weeks are always awesome, rarely ate on campus most of the time. but agree about the library walk annoyance, i just take the shuttle to avoid passing by it especially during the day :p

@astrina: shhh, don’t give away the secret…

okay honestly, i am pretty happy here, but i think that can be attributed mostly to having awesome suitemates and my boyfriend here too. I am in marshall, currently deciding on a major. and i chose this place over berkeley.

upside-good suitemates, pretty easy classes (im not a science major) but i know theyll get harder soon. and yes, the soap! haha

downside-well…only if you are out of shape. get used to walking…but i think thats pretty much everywhere. my car was left at home.

and tritoneye is a lie. lots of good looking people of both genders reside here.

Out of curiosity, why did you choose UCSD over Berkeley? I’m not opposed to that decision at all; I just want to hear your personal reasoning (just in case I decide to make the same decision.)

I have a friend who chose SD over Berkeley because SD has a less competitive atmosphere and is easier academically (he’s premed). He also got a scholarship here too I think. Also, Berkeley is extremely ugly with homeless people wandering into your dorms and begging you for money…well maybe not the latter part (in most cases), but it’s definitely ugly. Even if I got into Berkeley, I would’ve chosen SD.

ooh yeaaah…ucsd campus isnt competitive at all o.O…i dunno about that one haha

but i too picked sd over berkeley…its mostly because i visited the sd campus as a sophomore in hs and fell in love with it (im from sacramento area)…and the berkeley vibe wasnt really my thing…however it seems to me that alot of my friends that go to berkeley arent as stressed 24/7 as i am here, but i think that has a little to do with their semseter system too–quarter system goes fast, and if you have those teachers that give 3/4 midterms youre takeing them all the time…but i digress…

but yeah…i guess it was just a choice of personal preference (with bioE major aside)…i love the sd campus, how its open, but tree-y, but sunny, nice facilities and filled with bustling students…and i like the idea of the 6 college system making little sub communities

ohh. and i loved the international center and how they really want all students to study abroad, i know uc’s have almost the same programs everywhere, but the ic here really reallly loves students who want to go out to another country

i agree with all that. yeah its honestly a personal choice! i am from la and i have family in norcal…not that i dont love it there, but right now berkeley was just not the place for me. too much stress, pretty much everyone from my hs was going there, and they didnt give enough financial aid.
here, i am trying to get out in ~3 years, maybe go there for grad school (but who knows now, lol). i think here, ill have alot more chances to do things i want to do, and not have to worry about all the crazy smart people im competing with. not that there arent crazy smart people here–but you know what i mean. im even getting a job training sort of thing already, through work study.

here’s my advice for the seniors of 09, dont be swayed by others’ opinions of where you want to go to college or which one has more “prestige”. who the heck cares in the long run? you have the chance to get a good education in so many places!
