<p>It is as many as your school offers. From what I have heard, they look at your school offerings versus what you have taken.</p>

<p>You really shouldn’t be disadvantaged, at least from what I would think as reasonable, because competitive colleges just want you taking a good amount of the AP’s available. Personally, I took six AP’s over two years, but my school offers only 12 [and I really couldn’t take French, Latin, Studio Art, and Music Theory], so really I take it as six of eight, and regardless of the situation, when you take an AP class the school doesn’t offer you are definitely taking the initiative to do something yourself demonstrating plenty of responsiblity and focus, so that should definitely be helpful as well.</p>
<p>Yeah…taking something like AP Music Theory or Studio Art is outright silly if you have no real interest in it. Your lack of genuine interest in the fine arts will be quite obvious from your EC list.</p>
<p>It is not a matter “how many” as each student will be evaluated in terms of whether or not they have taken the most rigerous curriculum at their school according to what has been offered.</p>
